That’s the end of another very busy year. Thank you to you all for choosing us as your childcare providers. We have loved getting to know all of the children in our care and helping them develop into such happy, clever, caring little people.
We wish all those moving on to school the best time and know they will all shine. We are looking forward to seeing the rest of you again in September and welcoming some new faces.
We are now a very full and thriving setting. Kelly and I can’t thank you enough for supporting and believing in us. We would also like to say how proud we are of our team, they support us in all we ask of them.
Now they are all dancing off for the summer, with Courtney doing her best to keep up!!
Kelly and I are spending our summer attempting to build an extension as we’re so busy!
Have a lovely summer everyone.

We have had a really busy term, trips out and about to the canal, the park, the woodland. We’ve been searching for mini beasts, caring for our fruit and vegetables. We had a fab party for all our children moving on to school. A mummy who originated from Sweden came in and taught us a dance for Swedish mid summer and a daddy came in and joined in our it’s a knockout games this week!
We wish you all a lovely summer break and look forward to welcoming you all back in September. Xx

This is worth knowing about during the summer break.

One to save for later ❤️

We hope you have all enjoyed the coronation bank holiday weekend and have had lots of family fun.
We enjoyed the week building up to it and took part in lots of coronation activities.

We’ve had a busy start to the summer term, over the last two weeks we have been planting out our vegetables. We’re hoping to get crops of potatoes, leeks, carrots, beans and tomatoes.
We have freshened up our herb garden and have been working on the wild garden and ponds.
We have learnt so much and enjoyed every second. We built our scarecrow today, isn’t she beautiful?
We have also planted sunflower seeds for our tallest sunflower competition. We made our own labels and faces for our crazy cress hair pots too.
We have also had fun in the mud kitchen with petals, leaves, shaving foam and water. We have been encouraging our plants to grow by playing musical instruments and singing to them.
We are looking forward to another busy week next week when we take part in all our coronation activities too.

What do whole grapes and mini eggs have in common? They’re both the perfect size and shape to completely block a child’s airway. And, due to their texture they can be difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

With whole grapes we advise cutting them in half lengthways and ideally into quarters to create thin strips. But chopping up mini eggs isn’t as easy. So, what can you do?

1. Hide them from the children and eat them yourself – good luck with that!
2. Put the mini eggs into a sealable plastic bag and smash them into small pieces with a rolling pin. Or, crush them in a pestle and mortar.
3. Opt for a different treat. Larger, hollow eggs are much safer for little ones.

Tragically, two young children have died within days of each other after choking on food. One little boy choked on a grape.

The size and shape of whole grapes means they can block a child’s airway and can be difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

That’s why grapes and other round foods such as cherry tomatoes, blueberries and cherries should be chopped in half lengthways and ideally in quarters before being given to children.

We have had lots of fun making an airport and aeroplanes today.
We made an aeroplane out of a huge cardboard box, painted a runway in the garden, made an airport cafe and shop. Made our passports looking in mirrors to check that we were drawing a good picture of ourselves.
We developed our own baggage check and carousel and then boarded the plane and flew off on our holidays!! We have giggled and played together all day and Maggie said we did lots of learning too. We didn’t think we were we thought we were just having fun!! But Maggie said we learnt maths, communication and language, understanding the world, creative skills, story telling, working together and so much more!!!
How clever are we?!!! 😊

We have a vacancy for a level 3 qualified practitioner for maternity cover. Term time only. If you are interested and would like to know more about the role and our setting please call 01663747144 and ask for Kelly or Maggie.

Santa got in touch with us to ask for our help. The elves have been in discussions with their representatives and have been taking industrial action due to their ‘elf and safety’ conditions. Although we sympathise with the elves we felt we couldn’t let the children miss out on their presents so the staff have been checking the list and looking for naughty and nice! They have been so busy building, glueing and painting all the toys.
Kelly and Maggie are battling the elements and trekking to the North Pole to get the presents to Santa in time for him to deliver them all.
They are hoping he has room on his sleigh to give them a lift home on Christmas Eve!!

We hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and wish you all a peaceful new year.
Much Love, Kelly, Maggie and all the big wizards # # #

We have had so much fun today, the Christmas hat competition is one of our favourite days of the year.
Thank you for all your amazing creations, and well done to our winners. We love how much effort goes into them.
Thanks to the staff too who always enter into the spirit and make some truly amazing hats.
We must also thank our independent judge Lesley
Your job gets harder each year!!
We’re looking forward to next years creations already!!

We have decided not to do all our charity events this academic year. We are always so grateful to you all for the fantastic support we have had over the last five years. In that time we have raised an amazing £8000 for a variety of charities. We feel that this year is going to be particularly difficult for many of us so we will not add to those financial demands on everyone. We will still have Pudsey fun today of course. Kelly and I will make a donation to Children in Need on behalf of Little Wizards. Thank you for your continued support xx

Due to increasing numbers we are excited to announce that we have a vacancy for a level 3 qualified member of staff for 35 hours a week, term time only. We also have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as an apprentice.
If you are enthusiastic about child development and have an eagerness to present learning opportunities to young children in an innovative and stimulating way we would love to hear from you.

That’s it, the end of another year! It has been a tough year with staff taking it in turns to catch Covid and a lot of children learning to leave mum and dad and mix with others after having been born during lockdown.
It’s also been a very rewarding year, helping all the children in our care flourish and grow into some of the most caring, witty and unique little people we have ever had the pleasure to know.
All the staff are looking forward to a rest, Jemma is going to be busy packing boxes and learning a new language as she gets ready to relocate to Scotland.
Kelly and Maggie will be very busy as Sir David Attenborough has asked them to monitor the wildlife around Little Wizards for the summer. Who knows what they might discover!!
We hope you all have a lovely summer, see you in September. Much love Maggie, Kelly and the big wizards # # #

We had a lovely morning on Saturday celebrating with the families of the children leaving us and moving on to school. We are so proud of each and everyone of them and feel honoured that we were chosen as the right setting to help prepare them for their next step in life. We honestly feel all the teachers are very lucky to be getting such a smashing group of children.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for letting us spend such precious time with your children.

How did that happen?! We are five years old this week, we opened our doors with a team of three and three children on the register. We are now a team of eleven with sixty nine children on the register!
It’s been a fun packed journey! Full of adventure and laughter!
Here’s to the next 5, although Maggie says she might retire before then! 😜😂
We’ve added a few pictures of our journey so far.

We hope you all had a lovely Easter and are looking forward to a fun packed Summer Term with us.
We are looking forward to getting out in the garden and growing some vegetables and cooking up some interesting recipes in our mud kitchen.
See you all soon 😊

Chickenpox is going around again! Please remember NOT to give your children nurofen/ibuprofen if you think your child has it.

This type of medicine is an anti-inflammatory. It reacts with the chickenpox making them go deeper into the skin tissue, potentially causing a more severe secondary infection.

Better options:
👶Paracetamol for fever
👶Calamine Lotion for the itch
👶Keep your child hydrated

Always seek medical advice.

Just a reminder, if you can help, don’t forget we have a collection bin for donations here at Little Wizards.

Running out of food/necessities, or times are just tough, please don’t you and your kids go to sleep on an empty stomach.
Don’t be afraid or embarrassed to get in touch.
Please share.
