WORLD BOOK DAY 2025!!!

This week we have loved celebrating World Book Day. We've all been dressing up in our favourite costumes. We took part in lots of different book themed activities from making our own stories, creating our own characters, talking about our favourite stories, and reading lots of stories. We loved painting our favourite characters from our favourite stories.

We even extended our World Book Day theme onto our pudding today at lunchtime on Thursday, decorating our own cookies that are book shaped. We heped to make the dough and decorate the yummy biscuits!

We really loved celebrating World Book Day. Reading is the key to our imaginations and adventures. Reading is one of the best skills we can learn and encourage in our childhoods.
This week has been great. We have loved all our costumes and loved having lots of fun and laughter together. Don't forget your bedtime stories tonight 📚 remember stories take us to new worlds!!!

At nursery we are ALWAYS learning!!! We learn so much through our play activities, though for our pre-school children we also like to introduce so more structure activities and experiences in our pre-school times. In these sessions we focus more intently on activities to help us prepare for our next journey on to school. Learning and focusing on more specific skills and knowing.

We have loved celebrating pancake day at nursery today!!! We have been eating lots of different types of pancakes ensuring we talked about our healthy choices and diets. Then we have been exploring some sensory activities making our own pancake dough! How messy!!!! We have also been designing our own craft pancakes! How creative!!! We hope you have all had a great pancake day, we certainly have!!!! Enjoy your pancakes at home too 😋😋

The babies have enjoyed a fantastic bloom class today. This weeks theme took them to the circus. They loved exploring the play tent, juggling balls and trying on the bright coloured wigs, hats and bow ties. They all made very cute clowns. We had so much fun using our senses to explore and create 🎪

This afternoon we were trying to banish the yucky weather and encourage some sunshine into our days and thankfully we did. We were manifesting some sunny days at the seaside!!! We made huge ice creams to enjoy on our trip to the seaside. Using the sports resources to create and imagine them into ice creams cones and scoops of flavoured ice cream. Ooh it was delicious - so delicious that Gareth the cheeky seagull tried to catch us as we delivered it!! But we were too fast and sneaky with our ice cream. He managed to catch none of our ice creams. We had so much fun moving our bodies and exploring the different ways we can use them. Using fantastic balance and movement. Exercising our bodies and our brains. Amazing!!!

Mess..... what mess??? We don't see a mess, we see sensory fun!!! Exploring our senses through textures and touch. In our sensory baking activity today we explored lots of different textures using our imaginations to create too 🍩🎂

This morning we have had some lovely weather, winter sun and blue skies. We have taken the opportunity, even with it being still rather cold, to get plenty of outdoor time, rugged up in our coats, scarves, gloves and hats. We went into our mud kitchen exploring the natural environment. We had so much fun cooking, baking, mixing, scooping and stirring using so many of our physical skills to control the utensils. We had fruits in our cooking talking about healthy eating and diets. We had so much fun exploring the natural world and using our imaginations. Outside in the lovely sunshine!

The babies had a great time this afternoon in baby bloom. Having a giant bath time session!! Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles 🫧 sitting in a giant rubber duck just made everyone chuckle. Amazing fun!!! 🦆🧼🛁

Today we had an exciting visit from the local Police force, we love seeing Karen and Will in nursery. Today they come to talk to us all about stranger danger and our own personal safety. We are aiming to make our visits a regular thing to increase awareness and confidence for the children. We had a chat with the police officers and talked about all their equipment. We learnt about ways to keep ourselves safe and which people in our community are there to help us. We had such a great time!! We learnt about stranger danger, what to do if we get lost and so much more. We had a chat with Will and Karen about car safety and how to keep ourselves safe when travelling in cars. We are hoping to make Karen and Will's visit regular in nursery so that the children build up a relationship and confidence with them so when they see them in the community they feel secure and safe.

Maths, maths and more maths!! At nursery we like to think maths is everywhere and part of everything and more than that so much fun!!! At nursery we like to make maths part of our everyday routines and make lots of fun activities to develop our maths skills and knowledge. Today our mini athletics sessions was themed around emergency service's specifically the police and how they help us keep us safe from bad guys! Then we focused on ambulances to get to the hospital after Gogo fell off his skateboard. We worked as a team to get Gareth's ambulance to Gogo and back to the hospital, filling it up with petrol. We had to throw the balls into the engine practicing our throwing and our hand eye coordination as we threw and aimed. We had so much fun catching bad guys and driving our police cars, steering round the roundabout and avoiding the big bad guys blocking our way. We had such a fun time being helpful to our community as we pretended to be police and ambulance workers. We appreciate our emergency services and learnt lots about them as we moved our bodies and had so much fun!

Imagination is amazing!!! At nursery we love using our imaginations for lots of things from creating a picture to being a completely different person. We love to create and explore all the places our imaginations can take us. At nursery we use our imaginations everyday and there are no limits to where it can take us!!!!

Today the babies explored bloom magic week. We thought everyone looked brilliant in their capes, hat and wands. Alongside some rabbits to join us in the magic too. What a magical afternoon 🪄🎩🧙‍♂️🔮

Today we had a slightly different mini athletics. We started our pirate session outside today, and then the heavens opened on us ☔☔ and we got DRENCHED!!!! We love rain, but it was a bit too rainy to continue so we moved out session indoors to finish off. We continued being pirates finding treasure and keeping us safe our pirate ships. We had to throw out treasure onto our ships because there was a grumpy pirate trying to take it too. We had a great time and used great listening ears and team work!!!!

Here at nursery we simply love books and the many opportunities they bring. Sharing books with young children is so valuable and supports their development in so many ways. We share books to learn about new things, explore our imaginations, learn about feelings, develop language, for enjoyment, to build bonds and friendships and so much more. Today some of our children enjoyed some independent reading time 📖📚

At nursery we have so much fun with so many games and activities. Through our explorative play with different activities we are ALWAYS learning! Developing so many different skills. We explore so many different areas and activities everyday! No wonder we have so much fun and no wonder we are tired at the end of the day 😀

The children enjoyed mini athletics this afternoon where we went to the funfair! We built and rode on our very own rollercoasters. They all used good listening ears and stayed engaged and focused on the instructions that were given to them by Gareth. We all had a fantastic time at the theme park and enjoyed our time with mini athletics.

At nursery we are always talking about making healthy lifestyles choices. We talk about healthy diets, exercise and the things we need to do to keep our bodies happy and healthy. One way we do this is through our nutritionally balanced, home cooked meals at nursery. We fill our tummies with lots of different, yummy and healthy lunches 😋😋
