It does nothing for learning to simply like the page. You need to read the articles and my comments. It is time to get on with it folks!

This is an excellent website. It shows you everything you need to know about writing for GCSE and has some excellent student examples. It would be well worth anyone sitting the exam spending an hour reading what this site has to say!!!

This is an informative article with very emotional overtones. The use of the words "heart-melting" in both the title and the text are very emotional. The pictures are definitely designed to persuade the reader. However the purpose of the paper running the article is to inform.

It is probable that the article was written because of a press release by the charity and the Mail on Sunday took it up. Anyway it is worth a read as the dogs are cute

Canine charity the Dogs Trust, which has pledged never to destroy a healthy dog, is looking to rehome pets after The Mail on Sunday reported the RSPCA destroyed 3,400 animals in 2012.

A well argued piece of writing. Why would anyone want to get rid of one of the very few Black people discussed in British history. It is patently ridiculous. Nevertheless it is what the government appear to want to do.

The writing is clear, straightforward and to the point. The title is a plea from a point of view. The opening paragraph clearly explains where the point of view is coming from. Experts are quoted and links made to the role of black history in 2011's riots. All good independent writing. Good article for the higher tier.

An article designed to inform. Look at the rhetorical question at the beginning to engage the interest.

The first paragraph is very clear, direct and to the point. The second paragraph quotes the evidence base and the research- this gives the article a sense of authority and the fact that it knows what it is talking about.

It is an interesting article and I thought you may like it as it does contain relevance to what some of you intend to do. However I have read other research that says Headteachers have to most stress!

I am concerned that not enough students are reading the posts ----there are less readers than last year. If you could recommend the page to friends that would be helpful.

Research from the University of Wisconsin for CareerCast.com found that enlisted military personnel have the most stressful jobs.

This appears to me to be one of the best written articles I have seen for sometime.

It is an argument...mainly with science. However if you notice he never really quotes the science that says running is bad for you. It is a personal testament to the value of running to the writer.

The first paragraph has a real impact. "Bloody Science" A short opening sentence to engage and interest the reader. They are saying to themselves, "yeah too right...bloody science!"

The piece is littered with rhetorical questions. "My advice?" Well no one actually asked for it but it is there for you anyway.

The writer then gives you a number of reasons why he feels running is good for him...what better way to advise, make you feel you have got one better than the restrictive scientist who told you not to run 25 miles a week? It's definitely an article made to engage the reader without really engaging in the science!

This is an excellent 90 second video followed by a template for how to write a letter of complaint. You could change some elements of it to create a different type of letter. All very useful!

I will teach on Friday between 10 and 2. I will look at the reading section from Foundation in the morning and the writing section in the afternoon. All Foundation paper students welcome!

New advice for the New Year.

Quite a hard hitting piece designed to inform. There is a use of long and comlex sentences...some of which refer to the government advice...but they still adopt a commanding tone. Just what is needed to get peple out of the door and on a walk.

Happy New Year...keep reading and January the 10th will be better for the exam!

A good clear article going in one direction...there is a counter argument, can you think of it?

A brilian and informative title. |I like the use of the colon. It gives a clear opinion of the Inventor's opinion. A good read..even if it makes you a bit angry because it is so one dimensional.
