Providing early years childcare in a home from home environment for children from 8 weeks-reception Daily activities are very much an outdoor based approach.

Learning about the world and environment around us. We often visit the local woods and parks. We do lots of forest school based activities too! We have a purpose built garden specifically for childminding which include a mud kitchen, sand and water, building and vehicles. We’re Going on a Pumpkin Hunt going to find a big one we’re not scared……..

A great week all things Pumpkin! We have been reading some pumpkin themed books this week and we went to choose which pumpkins we would like to take home! We have been looking at what things can roll this week so we had lots of fun rolling the munchkin pumpkins down tubes this week too!

Pumpkin Patch 🎃🎃

Who needs to go to a Pumpkin Patch when you have your own? Better still……you grew them yourself!

We had the best morning with our childminder friends picking our pumpkins!

We washed them, rolled them and painted them!

We have been reading lots of different pumpkin stories over the past couple of weeks and today we of course had to read We’re Going on a Pumpkin Hunt!

We did lots of comparing such as heavy, light, big and small.
Some of the pumpkins were so heavy we needed help to lift them!
We are going to keep them in the poly tunnel for a week to stop them from catching a cold 😂

All that effort planting a seed, taking care of it, and watering it makes it all worth while when you get mornings like this! ☀️🎃☀️🎃

Home grown Sunflowers and Rudbeckia‘s from the allotment all ready to explore!
This is the last of our sunflowers but we have lots planned for the seeds!
The children enjoyed looking at these and our pumpkins last week at the allotment.

All our children are currently under two years of age this term.
Children of that age explore using their mouths and are fascinated by small parts.
Small parts and things they shouldn’t touch is not ideal for obvious reasons!

These Guidecraft Educational Toys and Kids’ Furniture treasure blocks are perfect! Little hands can hold them, whilst still looking at them in detail. They are of course perfectly safe as they are screwed into place.
You can easily change them and fill with a different item depending on interests.
We have used ours to observe the life cycle of our sunflowers 🌻 as we grew those at the allotment this year.
We have also used them in the story corner, alongside our favourite books!

BlackBerry Playdough

We picked some blackberries yesterday so we used them to make some new playdough for the new term!

It turned out so soft and the blackberries gave it a lovely vibrant purple colour.

We used it with our Gruffalo characters today and it turned into a Gruffalo birthday party…..all child led too!

An extension to our outdoor learning incoming……..more space to play down on the plot.
A space designed for our youngest children to explore.

Due for completion Spring/Summer 2027 so watch this space (literally! 😁)

We are back to it tomorrow and i know it’s not technically autumn yet but I couldn’t help it 🤣
Although I may have gone a bit too much autumn 🥴

My favourite season! 🍁🍂
There’s so much to see, do and explore and the rest of our produce at the allotment is still to pick.

Our pumpkin patch is looking very impressive! Our sunflowers are coming to an end but I’m sure the birds will enjoy the spare seeds.
There are lots of blackberries to be eaten and potatoes to be picked.

We also have another addition to the dining area! For once this had absolutely nothing to do with me 😁

There’s going to be plenty to see at mealtimes from now on!
