We had lots of children without hats or suncream today, please remember we are outside over lunchtime so these are needed by everyone.

Thankyou.

Wrens enjoyed a walk into the village today, exploring the environment and hunting for numbers all around us! πŸ”’πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

The children spotted numbers on doors, signs, and vehicles, helping to develop their early maths skills while enjoying the world around them. We had lots of fun counting, recognising numbers, and talking about where we found them.

🌞 Summer is a great time to start potty training! 🌞

With warmer weather, lighter clothing, and more time at home, the summer months can provide the perfect opportunity to help your child take this exciting next step.

Remember, every child develops at their own pace. Look out for signs that your child may be ready, such as:
🚽 Showing an interest in the toilet or potty
πŸ‘– Staying dry for longer periods
πŸ—£οΈ Letting you know when they need a nappy change
⭐ Wanting to be more independent

Keep it positive, celebrate small successes, and don't worry if there are a few accidents along the way – they're all part of the learning process!

If you're thinking about starting potty training this summer and would like some advice or support, please don't hesitate to speak to a member of the team - Mandi has recently done some training through Eric, and the family hubs have some info sessions online.

This practical and supportive workshop is designed to help parents and carers feel confident when beginning the toilet training journey. It explores signs of readiness, when to start, and how to approach toilet training in a positive and child-led way.

Upcoming virtual session:
πŸ“… Date: Wednesday 24 June
πŸ•  Time: 5:30–6:30 pm

Wrens have been loving their brand-new Seaside & Ice Cream Parlour role-play area this week!

While it looks like fun, our little learners are actually hard at work developing some fantastic skills.

β€‹πŸ”’ Early Maths Skills: From counting out scoops of ice cream to using the cash register and exchanging "money" for a chocolate flake, the children are practicing real-world counting and number confidence
β€‹πŸ—£οΈ Language & Communication: "What flavor would you like?" Our language skills are blooming as children take on the roles of shopkeepers and customers, learning new vocabulary.

β€‹πŸ€ Social & Emotional Development: Managing a busy ice cream queue takes patience! The children are doing a wonderful job sharing the toys, taking turns, and collaborating to build sandcastles.

β€‹πŸš Fine Motor & Sensory Exploration: Over at the beach sandpit, we've been using rakes, shovels, and scoops to search for buried seashells and sea creatures. This is fantastic for strengthening those little hand muscles needed for writing

πŸ¦‹ Something exciting happened at lunchtime today!

One of our butterflies hatched from its chrysalis! The children were thrilled to see this special moment and have enjoyed observing our butterfly up close.

Over the next few days, we'll give it time to stretch and dry its wings before releasing it into the wild. We're looking forward to watching the rest of our butterflies emerge and continuing to learn about their amazing life cycle. πŸ›βž‘οΈπŸ¦‹

Today we explored the artwork of Henri Matisse through the story Snail Trail.

The children looked at the bright colours and shapes used in his artwork and created their own pictures inspired by his collage style.

We developed our fine motor skills by ripping and tearing paper into different shapes and sizes to make snail trails and colourful collages.

The children carefully used their fingers to pinch, pull and tear the paper, helping to strengthen the small muscles in their hands ready for mark making and early writing.
