This personal and practical exploration of the Buddhist path blends together the Tulku Pema Rigtsal’s own journey with the timeless wisdom of his teachers and lineage. Through vivid stories, historical anecdotes, and direct teachings, the narrative illuminates the transformative power of compassion, kindness, and wisdom. Drawing on the foundational principles of Mahayana Buddhism, the reader is guided through essential practices such as renunciation, patience, generosity, and the cultivation of bodhicitta—the altruistic intention to benefit all beings.

Tulku Pema Rigtsal emphasizes the importance of spiritual friendship, the challenges of overcoming attachment and anger, and the necessity of self-examination and mindfulness. Ultimately, this book serves as both an inspirational memoir and a practical guide, inviting readers to embrace the path of awakening in order to be of true benefit to others.

Chloé Zhao won Best Director and Best Picture for Nomadland at the 93rd Academy Awards, becoming the second woman and the first woman of color to win Best Director. Her follow up was Marvel's Eternals (2022), which earned $402 million worldwide but received the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score (47%) of any MCU film at the time. Critics questioned whether the Marvel machine had constrained her naturalistic style.

Zhao has said she almost turned down Hamnet, feeling no cultural connection to Shakespeare. But Maggie O'Farrell's novel, which reimagines the death of Shakespeare's son through the perspective of his wife Agnes, revealed something universal about grief, art, and the cost of creative ambition. Zhao co-wrote the adapted screenplay with O'Farrell. Hamnet earned 8 Oscar nominations and made Zhao the first woman to receive two Best Director nominations in Academy history. She lost the award to Paul Thomas Anderson for One Battle After Another, though Jessie Buckley won Best Actress for her performance as Agnes.
