Typical lesson types:

Complete Beginner Half Day/Full Day
The most popular lesson. Where beginners with zero experience want to take up fly fishing full time. I teach you everything from scratch with the aim that you can go solo after a few sessions. All tackle supplied, so no need to go to the expense of buying anything to start. Full support during and after lessons. We cover everything from casting to fish care, fly choice to safety and everything inbetween.

Half Day/ Full Day MoT
Another very popular lesson. Where self taught and established anglers sick of catching nothing book a session to see why they struggle. The recurring theme here is the solutions to increasing your catch rates aren’t anywhere near what clients expected. Every time.

Holidaymaker/ Gift Idea/ Bucket List
Simple one-offs where the client has always fancied trying fly fishing but doesn’t want to take it up. As I include all tackle in the lesson price, this is easily achievable. The perfect length for these lessons is 4 hours. A lot of these customers end up taking it up full time 😀

Kids
The number of young’uns starting from scratch is really positive - contrary to popular belief. The interest out there is high and they are more suited to shorter lessons. General format of kids sessions is I cast the fly out and let them enjoy the main business of playing fish. Main aim is to make it an experience rather than a lesson. Capture the imagination first and worry about details later. This process has worked many times and most have several mini sessions in successive weeks. Ideally 12yo+. Typical session 2hrs.

Dream holiday preppers
An example is where a client booked an Arctic Char trip to Greenland - not having fly fished before. Its a different way of approaching things when you book the holiday before you can do the activity 😀 But we’ve taken him from zero to hero in five full day lessons. We also got him fully kitted out with every item of tackle for the trip.

Casting
Some just want to perfect their casting for the full session. Not as many as you may think as most want an all round fishing session. But if you think casting is your weakness, lets have a look. Single or double handed rods. Trout casting. Spey Casting by arrangement. These lessons tend to be self taught casters who need to iron out bad habits.

While those above are typical examples, your session can be tailored to suit your exact requirements and circumstances. You decide.

We will be fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout at the following Stillwaters:
Chatton Trout Fishery (Bamburgh/ Holy Island)
New Mills Trout Fishing Park (Carlisle)
Tunstall Reservoir (Co. Durham)

Weekends in July and August almost full with very limited availability. Book soon.

Monday to Friday available at shorter notice. Midweek lessons minimum 4hrs.

Shorter lessons under 4hrs are only on selected days during holidays.
