At Ron Dearing we not only celebrate student's in-school achievements, but their personal successes outside of school too! 🎉👏

One outstanding example is Year 12 student Kelsey Phillips, who is excelling in her karate journey! 🥋

Earlier this year, Kelsey was invited to a week-long international gasshuku (training camp/seminar) in Japan. 🇯🇵

The seminar was led by 10th Dan Chief Instructor of the Yamada-ha Sh*toryu Shukokai Karate Do World Union, Kamohara Tsutomu Sensei and was attended by other high ranked Japanese and European instructors.

During the amazing opportunity, Kelsey took part in karate training, competed against people from across the globe and enjoyed cultural visits to various important temple complexes. 🏯

Kelsey has been a student of the Wyke Dojo at Hull Shukokai Karate for several years, and is described as a diligent and focused student by her instructors, which has enabled her to achieve her 1st dan black belt! ✨👏

Well done on all your sporting achievements Kelsey!

Members of Hull Shukokai attendee the nations summer course which had a great turnout in total.

The 4 hours course covered everything from Khion, Kata and Kumite. Everyone worked hard and got a good sweat on. 🥋👊🏻

Summer Open Course – This Sunday!

A reminder that our Summer Open Course takes place this Sunday, 14th June, from 11:00am – 3:00pm, at the usual Seminar venue in Stretford.

The course is open to all grades and will be taught by the association’s senior grades (6th Dan and above), giving students a great opportunity to train with a variety of instructors.

Course Fees:
• 1 person – £25
• 2nd family member – £20
• 3rd family member – £15
• 4th family member – Free

We look forward to seeing as many members as possible.

In our temporary venue, the kids did us proud showing blocking and countering techniques, and striking and kicking pads... The class voted our new 5 year old Fay as Star of the week, for overcoming her fear as the youngest in the group and conducting the whole of the lesson with a smile on her face 😁
