๐ŸŒŸ Online Tuition Available NOW
- Don't Wait for Our Doors to Open

While we're getting OpenSpace Education Centre in Hertfordshire ready, our practitioners are already up and running and available to support children and young people online, right now.

Whether you're waiting on EOTAS provision, have school-funded support to arrange, or simply need specialist tuition to start as soon as possible - we can help.

๐Ÿ“ฉ We have added a separate form on our website just for online tuition, please fill this in if you are interested and a member of our team will get back to you as soon as we can.
๐Ÿ’™ Our online practitioners are the same people who will be in our buildings. We know consistency is everything - especially for young people who've had difficult experiences with education.

So our model is built around one simple idea: the same trusted adults, every step of the way.
- It starts online-building real relationships through 1:1 tuition and therapy, using tools like gaming to gently rebuild trust and academic confidence for those with school-based trauma.

- As students grow, so does their provision: group sessions, social skill-building, and enriching activities like music, coding, and entrepreneurship, all with familiar faces.

- When they're ready, students step into our specialist SEN site, starting with OpenAccess - a carefully tailored environment staffed by the very same tutors, therapists, and providers they've been working with online.

-From there, students can transition into OpenSpace, for now located within the exact same building. Here, the environment and classes adapt to offer a gentle bridge toward wider integration, with therapeutic support and familiar adults still firmly in place.
The destination is entirely focused on the individual. The goal isn't always a return to a traditional classroom; itโ€™s about preparing them for whatever their unique future looks like.

Whether the next step is integrating into mainstream school, attending college, entering the workplace, or simply finding their place in the community, those trusted adults will be there to support that transition too. No cold starts. No strangers.
Just the right people, for as long as they're needed. ๐ŸŒฑ

We're also continuing to grow our incredible team. Are you a tutor, therapist, or specialist who works with children and young people? We'd love to have you on board - particularly those with experience in:
๐Ÿ”ฌ Science ยท ๐Ÿ“ Maths ยท ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Speech & Language ยท ๐Ÿง  Educational Psychology ยท ๐Ÿ’ฌ Child or Family Therapy ยท โ™ฟ Occupational Therapy ยท and more.
Fill in the provider enquiry form at ๐Ÿ‘‡ www.openspaceeducation.co.uk ๐Ÿ“‹

Our waiting list is growing - and we don't want anyone to miss out. If you haven't already, please register your interest on the website so we know you're there.

Thank you for every share, every message, and every bit of support along the way. This community is everything. ๐Ÿ’™ www.openspaceeducation.co.uk

Itโ€™s probably about time I put a face to the name for our new Hertfordshire community!

Iโ€™m Harriet, director and co-founder of OpenSpace.

Some of you might know us from our first hub in Waterlooville, but I am so incredibly excited to share that we are bringing the OpenSpace magic to Hertfordshire! While I grew up in Hampshire, Iโ€™ve spent the last few months falling in love with the Herts landscape and the vibrant Home Ed community here.

As a mum to four energetic boys, our own journey into home education was a bit of a whirlwind. Despite Lukeโ€™s background in education, we quickly realised that the "sitting at the table" approach just wasnโ€™t for us. We stopped trying to recreate school at home and started letting life be the classroom.

For me, this is personal. I wasnโ€™t diagnosed with ADHD until I was 27. It explained so much about why I struggled to fit into a rigid system as a child. Iโ€™m building OpenSpace to be the hub I needed back then - not a classroom, but a safe, lively space where kids can thrive in their own unique way and parents can find their "tribe."

We are currently scouting the perfect spots and getting everything ready to open our doors.

Iโ€™d love to get to know you all! Which part of Hertfordshire are you based in, and whatโ€™s the one thing you feel is "missing" for Home Edders in your area? ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Meet our Founder of OpenSpace: Luke

How do children really learn best?
Luke has spent over twenty years exploring that question.
With a career spanning two decades as a teacher, tutor, and mentor, Luke has dedicated his life to helping people rediscover their confidence and curiosity.

๐ŸŽ“ The Science of Learning
Lukeโ€™s academic foundation is unique. After early years teaching in Oxford, he pursued medical training and completed a degree in Medical Sciences. This deep understanding of human physiology and psychology continues to shape his work today, giving him a scientific insight into how the brain processes information and develops.
๐Ÿง  A Specialist in Every Brain
Luke has taught everything from Maths and Physics to Philosophy and Psychology, supporting students from primary years right through to university prep.
However, his true passion lies in supporting children for whom the traditional classroom has become a challenge.
He works extensively with:
SEND & Neurodivergent learners
Students with EHCPs or EOTAS provision
Those navigating school-related anxiety or trauma
๐ŸŒ Why "Hands-On" Matters
Lukeโ€™s philosophy - that learning happens everywhere - wasn't just born in a book. It was built while trekking the Himalayas, cycling across Europe, and mastering practical skills like carpentry and bricklaying.
To Luke, these aren't just hobbies; they are the ultimate teaching tools. He believes curiosity is strongest when children can experiment and create with their own hands - whether that's through a complex science project, a Minecraft build, or a piece of music.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ A Personal Mission
This belief led him to create OpenSpace - a hub where academic subjects are woven into creative, project-based activities.

As a father who home-educates his own four sons and navigates ADHD and neurodiversity within his own family, Luke understands the journey personally. He isn't just teaching subjects; heโ€™s building a community where every child has the space to learn in their own way.

Are You a Provider in Hertfordshire? Let's Build Something Together. ๐Ÿ“ฃ

We believe that a community thrives most when we all lift each other up. There are already so many incredible, passionate experts right here on our doorstep, and we have no desire to recreate what you already do so beautifully.

Instead, our dream is to bring everyone together. We want OpenSpace to be the beating heart of this community - a welcoming, collaborative space that champions our local businesses while providing our families with the absolute best opportunities. Because when we work together, everyone grows. ๐ŸŒฟ

To make this vision a reality, we're actively looking to connect with local providers who share our values and want to be part of something a little different.

We'd love to hear from:
๐Ÿง  Therapists and mental health practitioners
๐ŸŽจ Creative and arts-based providers
๐ŸŽต Music tutors and performing arts specialists
๐Ÿณ Cookery, life skills, and practical learning facilitators
๐Ÿ’ป Computing, STEM, and digital skills tutors
๐Ÿƒ Sports, outdoor learning, and physical activity providers
๐Ÿ“š SEN-specialist tutors and learning support practitioners
๐Ÿค Any organisation working with children, young people, or families in Hertfordshire

Whether you're a sole trader, a small team, or an established organisation - if you're passionate about supporting young people outside of mainstream education, we think we should talk.

Our model is collaborative by design. We're not looking to simply sub-contract services - we want to build genuine, lasting partnerships with people who care as much as we do about getting it right for every child. ๐Ÿ’›

If youโ€™re interested in becoming a part of the community we are building, then please visit our website and register your interest:

๐Ÿ‘‰ https://openspaceeducation.co.uk/

And if you know someone this might be perfect for - please give this a share.

The right people are out there, and we'd love to find them. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Introducing OpenSpace Hertfordshire ๐ŸŒฟ

Something new is coming to Hertfordshire - and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.

We're OpenSpace: a community education centre built around the belief that every child deserves a place where they can learn, grow, and simply be themselves. No rigid rows. No ticking clocks. No one-size-fits-all.

We know that for many families, the traditional school environment just doesn't work - whether your child is home educated, waiting for EHCP support, accessing EOTAS provision, or simply thriving better outside of mainstream settings. OpenSpace is here to be your partner through all of it. ๐Ÿค

Here's a little of what we're building:

๐ŸŽจ Hands-on, creative learning that actually captures kids' imaginations
๐Ÿง  A genuinely inclusive space for neurodivergent learners and their families
๐Ÿ“š 1:1 and small group tuition - relaxed, pressure-free, and tailored to your child
๐Ÿ  Specialist on-site Alternative Provision through our OpenAccess offering, for children who need a calmer, quieter environment with expert SEN support
โ˜• A Family Hub - because this place is for you too, not just your children

We're not just another education provider. We're a community - for children, parents, and families navigating a system that can often feel overwhelming.
