We offer day workshops and overnight courses that teach a range of skills including bushcraft skills in shelter building, fire lighting and management, camp craft, water sourcing and purification, use of different bushcraft tools (knives, axes) plant and tree identification, foraging, tracking and animal sign and behaviour. All courses are held outdoors in a relaxed expedition-style camp with a co

vered teaching area where a kettle is constantly on the fire and refreshments are available. Sleeping in the woodland under your tent or tarp, we can also arrange to lend you these if required - we do not believe that lack of equipment should prevent people from experiencing the great outdoors!

Discover what you can forage in Hertfordshire this autumn, from blackberries and elderberries to sweet chestnuts, nettles and wild mushrooms.

We've put together a new guide to 10 wild foods you may find when foraging in Hertfordshire this autumn, including tips on identification, responsible foraging and some of the ways these ingredients can be preserved and used.

We've also included Parasol Mushroom and Chicken of the Woods, two tasty fungi to look out for – but remember, never eat wild fungi or plants unless you are 100% certain of the identification.

A huge well done to another group of Year 11 students who have successfully earned their IOL Level 2 Bushcraft Skills Award! 🌿🔥

They demonstrated their skills across 11 different units, covering everything from fire lighting and shelter building to natural navigation and traditional bushcraft crafts.

Join us on Sunday 18th October for a Wild Food & Foraging Day and discover the edible and useful plants, trees and fungi growing in our private ancient woodland in Bayford, Hertfordshire.

You'll learn how to safely identify seasonal wild foods and how to forage them and hear stories behind Britain's native plants and trees. Back at camp, we'll prepare and cook a selection of our finds as well as taste some prepared earlier.

🌿 Looking for a family adventure that's a little different?

Swap screens for campfires and spend a weekend learning practical bushcraft skills together in our private ancient woodland in Bayford, Hertfordshire, just one hour from London.

Our Family Bushcraft Weekend is designed for parents, grandparents and children to learn side by side. You'll discover how to light a fire, build a shelter, use bushcraft tools safely, cook over an open fire and explore the woodland together under the guidance of our experienced instructors.
