- AVAILABILITY IN JUNE -

Apologies this has taken so long, I wanted to ensure all support was accounted for, for the families I am providing ongoing support to for before releasing any new availability.

Due to a family holiday at the end of June and current work booked in, I only have 4 days of availability left for the whole of June. If you are looking for support from us, then please do get in touch sooner rather than later as I really don’t like not being able to support families due to lack of space in the diary 💫

'Calm Bags' are available at Castle Ward this Easter.

Busy holidays can be overwhelming for some. That's why we're pleased to offer 'Calm Bags' for those who need a little extra support. The bags include fidget toys, ear defenders and other sensory items to create a calm and comfortable environment.

The Loughview Quiet Space on the estate also provides an accessible peaceful place to escape. The hut is a sensory-friendly, safe space to relax, unwind and get away from louder areas. Open daily, it ensures more people have the opportunity to enjoy the estate.

You can borrow 'Calm Bags' from Visitor Reception for the duration of your visit. The team can also help you find quieter spaces of the garden that are perfect for people, young or old, who can become overwhelmed. Speak to the Welcome Team on arrival to find out more.

Today we’re celebrating 🥰

Wearing odd socks to spark conversations with others and to share all things amazing about Down Syndrome.

Just like we celebrated the successes and talents of neurodiversity last week, we want to share some of our favourite accounts on here that show that Down Syndrome does not define what a person or a child cannot do. In fact, these accounts are showing daily the amazing strengths and inspiring stories of living with Down Syndrome ❤️

Firstly I want to share the amazing charity who are local to us and do the most fantastic work 👏🏼

Then, one of my favourite parenting follows is just a fantastically real Mama letting the world share snippets of her and her beautiful daughters world ❤️

I then recently came across and saw the most incredible Instagram story on this page last week. Nicola had written and shared the most beautiful letter with her daughters classmates. Celebrating her little girl and asking her friends to join her in wearing odd socks today to celebrate! It really warmed my heart and inspired me with ideas for future celebrations for our journey with our little boy ❤️

Next up is . I love following Hayley’s journey of being a Mum and their family story of having the most amazing little boy in River. It’s definitely an account I get so much joy out of on this platform ❤️

And finally, ! If you don’t follow him, then do. He’s a real life superman! The first person with Down Syndrome to complete the Ironman challenge in Hawaii and now just smashing physical challenges one after the other! I wish I had his level of motivation as it’s absolutely incredible ❤️

Join me today in celebrating World Down Syndrome day and let me know your favourite accounts to follow that share their journey of Down Syndrome 🥰

I thought we would just do a little introduction of who we are as over the past couple of days we’ve had lots of new followers… which is brilliant!

I’m Kaylie, and my wonderful friend in this amazing sunflower dress is Andrea. And together, we are the SEN Support Hub.

We are two SEN/Education professionals with over 20 years of combined experience of working with children and young people in various Local Authority roles. We are both extremely passionate about supporting and helping children, young people and their families through their journey of SEN.

I (Kaylie) am also a parent of a 6 year old boy with SEN. I am now even more on this journey with you and hope that here at the SEN Support Hub we can empower you through each stage of your journey. By providing you with important legal information, practical advice and tips, stories of our SEN journey & to be a safe space to ask questions, find our information and seek advice & help.

We have some big plans for the SEN Support Hub. Some which we had hoped we had been able to get off the ground sooner, but hey, sometimes life gets in the way and we have to shift our focus to other parts for periods of time. But we’re here and still moving forward one brilliant idea at a time.

If you want to find out more about us, our journey and the services we are currently providing, then head to our website! Link is in the bio 🥰

P.S - we don’t do professional photos (they look amazing but where do people get the time?!) Infact there is very few photos we actually have together and even fewer without a pink gin in hand 😂 but do enjoy this happy picture of us this summer enjoying the local festival 😍

Last week over on Instagram we were celebrating 2023 🧠

I thought I would share some of our posts over here for those of you who may not be following our Instagram page 👍🏼

No two neurodivergent people are the same. I am sure you’ve heard of the saying ‘if you know one person with autism then you know one person with autism’. What this means is that needs, challenges, talents, strengths of person with autism (or any other neurodivergence) are all unique based on the individual.

As shown in this picture, there are different neurological differences and it’s very likely that these can co-occur alongside one another.

For us, our son’s diagnosis of ADHD also led to an Autism diagnosis 3 months later. The Autism diagnosis then led to Sensory Processing Disorder and Hyper-Mobilty being diagnosed a further 2 months later!

When working with neurodivergent children or adults, it is important to take a person centre approach. To tailor strategies to each individual and not by their diagnosis or challenges. To harness in on their strengths and talents because doing so will help them to not only build on this strength or talent, but also their confidence and self-esteem and give them the opportunity to flourish in their day to day ❤️

We often talk as parents and professionals about the challenges or barriers our children have on a daily basis. About how difficult it can be parenting a child with additional needs for what ever reason. But this week, I am going to be here to celebrate our children. To talk about the good things, the successes and the moments that inspire us, and I’d love nothing more than to hear and see you do the same 🥰
