Students and staff at Three Rivers Academy are celebrating today following the release of this year’s GCSE results, which reflect a solid upward trajectory and steady academic gains across the board.

The school has recorded improvements in key performance metrics, mirroring the consistent hard work, focus, and dedication of both pupils and teaching staff over the past two years.

Key Highlights:

Overall Progress: A steady rise in the percentage of students achieving strong passes in English and Mathematics.

Top Grades: A welcome increase in higher-tier grades (Grades 7 to 9), showcasing solid academic ambition across various subjects.

Inclusive Achievement: Noticeable headway made by students of all abilities and those facing challenges, highlighting the school’s commitment to supporting every learner.

Miss Barbara Mayaire, Principal at Three Rivers Academy, shared her immense pride in the school community:

These encouraging results reflect the consistent hard work, determination, and focus that our young people have shown throughout their GCSE courses. We are celebrating an excellent set of A level (and equivalent) results, with record numbers of students achieving the highest grades. This year marks another significant improvement in outcomes, with the proportion of A* to B grades rising from 39% to 44%, and almost a quarter of all grades awarded at A* or A. We are also delighted that two students have been offered places at the University of Oxford.

Among our highest achievers, Penn Sions (A*A*A) will read Classics at the University of Oxford, while Freya T has earned a place at Oxford to study Spanish with Portuguese. Other outstanding performers include Genoa Angus (A*A*A), Gyula Tansca (A*AA), Hannah Green (A*AA) and Noah Wilson (A*AA). Faris Seed (AAA) and Jack Pearce (AAB) will be studying Medicine at the University of Birmingham and the University of Aberdeen respectively.

Students studying vocational qualifications, or a combination of academic and vocational courses, also achieved excellent results. Forty-five per cent attained a Distinction* or Distinction grade, while 100% achieved at least a Pass.

For the last two years, they have poured their efforts into their studies and carefully planned their next steps. I am delighted that so many of our students have achieved their first choice at university or got what they need for their chosen destinationI am incredibly grateful to our staff for their unwavering commitment to our students, helping them fulfil their potential and secure their next steps.”

Two 18-year-old men have been charged after police were called to Bell Farm Way on Tuesday, 21 July following reports of a person armed with a weapon.

Mackenzie Campos, and Leon Brown were both charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place yesterday (Wednesday, 22 July). They were both remanded overnight at appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday, 23 July).

Mackenzie Campos (29/08/2007), of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article in a public place. He has been remanded into custody and committed to Guildford Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday, 20 August.

Leon Brown, (01/11/2007), of Tottenham, pleaded not guilty to the same offence, and has been remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 20 August.

Over the last few days we have celebrated all of our wonderful Year 12 students for their achievements, their hard work and resilience throughout this year as well as their own personal growth and contributions to Sixth Form life.
We have had certificates, awards and fun games giving everyone the chance to relax, celebrate together, and create lasting memories with friends and staff. T
Congratulations to all of our wonderful Year 12 students on everything they have accomplished this year. We are proud of their achievements and wish them a safe, enjoyable break. We look forward to welcoming them back for an exciting and rewarding Year 13.

As you are aware, we instituted our lockdown procedure at the end of the school day today following an incident in the local area. I am pleased to reassure you that all students and staff remained safe throughout, and the lockdown has now been lifted. Surrey Police have confirmed that two suspects were arrested and that their investigation is ongoing.

I would like to commend our students for the calm and mature way they responded during what was an unsettling situation. They followed staff instructions and we are incredibly proud of them. I am also very grateful to our staff team for their professionalism and care throughout.

We recognise that today's events may have been distressing for some students and families. We will be supporting students tomorrow and carefully reviewing today's events to ensure our safeguarding procedures continue to be effective.

I have attached an update from Surrey Police and Elmbridge Borough Commander, Inspector Chris Thoday, for your information.

We look forward to welcoming students tomorrow for their final day of the school year, including their celebration assemblies. If you have any ongoing concerns, please do contact the school.

Activities Week - Day 4
We've had another exciting day of enriching activities! Challenging their coordinate skills with map reading, using some tricky tools in Tech, a very competitive TRA Snackdown, more incredible art work (just wow!), and to top it all off... our students creating their very own cosmetics! Activity Week - Business Enterprise - Our Year 7 and Year 9 students have had an exciting time designing and proposing products and business models that are both eco-friendly and very aesthetically pleasing! We have seen some incredible ideas, designs, and presentations, and our "Dragons" have voted for their favourite ideas. From 'Panda Pens', to 'Cheeky Monkey Spray', to the 'Zombag', we are so proud of our students' creativity and teamwork - well done everyone!

On Friday, some of our Year 9 students got to experience an Army Skills Day. They enjoyed an interesting presentation, which gave an insight into their many duties, addressed misconceptions, and explained wages, accommodation, and the many careers the Army has to offer. Afterwards our students got fully immersed in training activities. Well done to Andre and Sam who won their first grouping task, working well as a team whilst showing excellent leadership skills. Then onto the second task where our students' communication skills were put to the test as they avoided the "mines" (many colourful cones) whilst blindfolded, Bazil was the first to succeed - well done! And finally, some physical training with drills and tests, and too many push ups to count. Everyone who took part gave their absolute all, stepped outside of their comfort zones, and we are so proud of every single one of you.
We received amazing feedback from our students following the sessions, as well as one of the soldiers from the Army Outreach Team saying "I've been doing these days for a while now, and rarely have I seen such incredible teamwork. Not only did everyone complete the physical course, but everyone else cheered them on the whole way. The team work and support given to the very last student completing the course was superb to see".
