Last week, members of the Herne Bay High Crochet Club enjoyed a visit to The ScrapStore in Ramsgate, where they were able to select a variety of crafting materials to use over the summer. During the trip, students also spent time creating handmade cards and gifts, which will be sold to raise funds for East Kent Mencap.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who has donated yarn and crafting materials to the club this year. Your generosity has enabled our students to take part in a wide range of creative projects and support several charitable causes through their fundraising efforts.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce the launch of our first Yarn Library in September, which will be located in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC). The Yarn Library will provide students with access to a selection of donated yarn and crafting materials for their projects.

If you have any unused yarn at home that you would be willing to donate, we would be delighted to add it to our collection and help support the creativity of our students.

Thank you for your continued support.

On 16 July, 24 of our Year 7 and 8 students and 23 Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed a reward trip to Grove Ferry for a canoeing session. They had the opportunity to develop their canoeing skills before taking part in a variety of fun games.

Every student was exceptionally well behaved and represented the school brilliantly. It was a pleasure and a privilege to take them on this trip!

Today the Science Department celebrated the success of the Year 7 Science Project winners. The students have worked hard producing a range of science models based on what they have learnt this year and it was fantastic to see all of their great models.

We would like to congratulate them again for all their hard work and look forward to seeing what they do in the future.

Have you seen the construction works happening at the school?

We're excited to be having a 3G pitch installed where our old astroturf was in readiness for the new school year. To help protect the new surface and support all of our students, we are collecting unwanted or outgrown footwear that is suitable for use on the 3G pitch.

Our PE Team are also happy to receive donations of outgrown PE Kit, sports clothing, trainers, or other equipment. These can be brought in by students and given to the PE office, or dropped off by members of our community at main reception.

Thank you for your help.

This summer, with support from Kent County Council (KCC), young people aged 14-16 who are eligible for Free School meals, are available to claim a targeted FREE Summer Gym Pass Programme, providing four-week gym memberships.

We understand that the summer holiday can sometimes be challenging for young people experiencing financial disadvantage, with less access to structured activities, and that this can sometimes lead to inactivity, social isolation, and poorer physical and mental wellbeing.

Providing access to local gyms offers young people the opportunity to:
Increase physical activity
Improve confidence and resilience
Encourage positive use of free time
Create opportunities for social engagement
Develop healthy habits that can continue beyond the summer holidays

Eligible families can apply throughout July and August by emailing [email protected]
