We’re delighted to announce that our CASS Team has been named as a winner at the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards for 2026.

At present we are not sure which award we have won as this will not be announced until the awards ceremony on Friday 23rd October, when we will give another update.

We want to congratulate our whole CASS Team for the work they do to help the wellbeing of our students and for this wonderful accolade.

This week, Year 7 students were lucky enough to have Alex from the University of Kent come to speak to them during their Assembly. Whilst GCSEs, A Levels and the possibility of university seem a long way off, Alex spoke about the links between school subjects and possible university degrees and careers. The students were shown the broad range of degree options; the possible places to study from close to home to those further away and even overseas. It was a fantastic opportunity to get students thinking about what they enjoy doing, what they are good at and how they could transfer this to further education and the world of work.

On Wednesday 23rd September, we were delighted to welcome Sadia Ahmed, Socio Economic & Community Engagement Manager from Places for People, to speak with our Year 13 Alternative Routes students.

Sadia provided valuable insight into the housing, construction and regeneration sectors, exploring the diverse career pathways, opportunities and skills required to succeed within these growing industries.

This is a reminder that Girls' Football Club in on every Monday after school for all year groups from 3:30 until 4:30pm.

Students will need a pair of moulded football boots (as they are likely to use our brand new 3G pitch), shin pads and full PE kit. Plenty of water will also be handy too.

We have so many fixtures coming up over the next couple of terms, so it would be lovely to have as many students there as possible.

If you have any questions about any of our clubs, please do speak to your PE Teacher.

We have been notified that the footpath between Lower Herne Road and the Redrow Estate will be closing from 5th October for up to six months. This is to enable construction of a new path at the crossing of the Spine Road.

We know that some students use this route to get to school, so please allow extra time to follow the signed diversion and do not enter the construction site.

Launch of Yarn Library

This morning, 24th September, members of the crochet club and Miss Reece were present at the grand opening of the first HBHS Yarn Library. Yesterday afternoon, our CASS Team undertook their long postponed sponsored walk from Herne Bay to Riverside Church - Whitstable.

Starting at Hampton Pier, our intrepid staff and students walked along the sea wall to Swalecliffe before heading inland to Riverside, where they finished after 53 minutes.
