The final scores are in, and we're pleased to say that Joss House are the Champions for 2026!
Thank you to all our staff and students for joining in with all the events, not only today, but all week, and a massive thank you to our PE department for all their hard work organising everything.
Congratulations to Mrs Blagden and Joss.

Not a massive change in positions, but at lunch Joss have increased their lead by nearly 250 points over second place Kingsgate, and it looks to be a two horse race between them with Botany, Epple and Minnis quite a way behind.
But, with Year 7 taking to the field this afternoon, that could all change. Who will be crowned champions? We will find out later!

At break time, things have changed with the scores for Sports Day. Joss have taken the lead, pushing Kingsgate into second, while Minnis have climbed to fourth place. Year 8 and 9 are taking to the field now, so we will see how things change by lunchtime.
We have also seen a 50 year old school record broken in the Javelin by Freddie in Year 10 who threw 45.30m! Well done Freddie.

It's Sports Day!
After a hotly contested week of lunchtime activities, the scores going into the day's events see Kingsgate with a solid lead over Epple, Joss and Botany are only separated by one point and Minnis are currently trailing behind.
BUT, we know all this can change over the course of the day. Year 10 are taking part first, with Years 8&9 periods 3 and 4 and Year 7 this afternoon. Who will be victorious at the end of the day? Keep an eye on the school website and our social media for updates during the day.

We're delighted to announce that alumni student Keira recently received her Gold The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
She was lucky enough to meet Prince Edward and talk about her journey through her award with him. We are very proud of her achievements.

It's Sports Day tomorrow!
We're expecting it to be very warm and sunny for the Sports Day events, please students, in addition to wearing your PE Kit, please remember to bring lots of water with you to drink, bring sunscreen that you can apply during the day, and if you have one, bring a hat with you.
We hope you're all looking forward to the day as much as we are. Do keep an eye on the school website and our social media during the day for updates.

Congratulations to the Junior and Inter Herne Bay High Athletics team who represented the school at the District Schools Athletics competition which was held at Canterbury Academy on Tuesday.
In their events they competed against all the schools in the district and overall they came third out of the 11 schools who competed. The two schools to finish above our team were Queen Elizabeth's and Barton Court, meaning we are the top comprehensive school in the district.
The students should all be very proud of themselves, along with being praised by other members of staff on how well their behaviour and attitudes were at the event.

There's definitely been some shenanigans on the field today!
Our Student Support Managers took to the track to join their students for the 100m, and did it in true style with inflatable costumes in their house colours. Their race was won by Miss Mackinnon for Epple, earning her house some more valuable points.
When all the points from the last three days are added together, Kingsgate have increased their lead over now second-place Epple, who are only 1 point ahead of Botany. Meanwhile Mrs Sparks' Minnis have slipped to last place.
It's still all to play for though, with Speed Bounce on the Tennis Astro tomorrow lunchtime and then Sports Day itself on Friday when we hope to see lots of points being won.

The Drama department took some students to Canterbury Christ Church University to see Urinetown - The Musical last week.
The show was performed by university students who not only study theatre and performance but other degree courses too.
CCCU students were also able to support with costume, set, lighting and sound as well as backstage. They held a Q&A afterwards, where the performers spoke about their time on the show, life at CCCU and career prospects.

Dancers Raise Money for East Kent Mind
On Tuesday 17th June, we were delighted to welcome Karen Brinkman from East Kent Mind to school as we presented a cheque for funds raised at our community dance matinee back in May. The event was a wonderful celebration of community dance, bringing people together to support such an important cause....
