Welcome to Book Week at Reculver!

Christmas has arrived at Reculver this morning, with classroom doors all brightly decorated....keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the doors soon....

As part of Advent this year we are going to be doing our annual reverse advent calendar. On Thursday the 1st December till Monday the 5th December we are asking for donations of unwanted coats and pyjamas to support the Whitstable Community Clothes Bank, they would appreciate these being in good condition and freshly washed. From Tuesday the 6th December till Monday the 12th December we will be collecting food donations for Canterbury Food Bank - please see the attached picture for food they would appreciate. Thank you again for your ongoing support to help those less fortunate. As our school Bible verse says “We show love and compassion for others by truly helping them, and not merely talking about it”.

At Reculver, we always start the period of advent with Reverse Advent, where we give an advent gift instead of taking one.
This is going to start on Thursday of this week, and for the first 2 days we are going to be asking the children to donate good condition pyjamas and coats for Whistable Community Clothes bank.
From the 5th - 13th December we will be collecting food donations for Canterbury Food bank. Thank you in advance for your donations, that will make a real difference to those children and families in need at this time of year.

We are excited that our Advent Raffle will be taking place once again this December. For every school day of Advent (1st-16th December) you can win a prize. Raffle ticket books will come home with children next week. Tickets are priced at £1 per ticket. Top prizes include £100 cash, a Kids Edition kindle fire 7 and your Christmas Meat! Other prizes include Christmas food hampers, toys, beauty sets and chocolate! Last year we gave away a massive 27 prizes in 13 days!

We will be holding a non-uniform day on Monday 28th November in exchange for donations for our Advent Raffle. Please donate the following:
Christmas sweet treats/condiments - Upper School (Year 5 & 6)
Savoury Christmas treats/condiments - Middle School (Year 3 & 4)
Christmas Chocolate (bars/boxes/novelty chocolate of any kind) Reception and Lower School (Years R - 2)
We also welcome the donation of any toys, games, toiletries and other Christmas goodies from all year groups instead of food (in brand new, unopened condition only please).

We will again be running a holiday and food camp for any children who are entitled to free school meals. It will be from 19th - 22nd December from 10am-2pm daily.
Free school meal shopping vouchers and holiday camp vouchers will be sent out by school from today so please book quickly to secure your place, and also see the flyer coming home with your child today
