This term, Year 4 have been learning about Islamic Art and recently visited The Activity Box to create their own decorative tiles.

The children put their knowledge and creativity into practice, using a variety of colours to bring their own geometric patterns to life, resulting in some beautiful and unique designs.

A big thank you to Activity Box for welcoming us and helping Year 4 create such wonderful pieces while bringing their learning to life!

Over the last 9 weeks, our Police Cadets, alongside Miss Wood, have been working with local PSCOs Kassie, Jade and Matt to explore issues within our local community. They have also been developing valuable new skills such as first aid, learning to parade and strengthening their team work.

When speaking with the children about their highlights of the programme, they spoke positively about their experience. A favourite highlight was meeting local officer Amelia and having the chance to explore her police car and equipment!

The programme ended with the cadets holding a 'Social Action' event, where they planned, prepared, and hosted a cake sale, choosing to raise money for OPAL Outdoor Play and Learning CIC equipment for our HBJS community to enjoy. We are pleased to share that they raised a fantastic total of £62.70 and would like to thank you all for your support.

A big thank you to Kassie, Jade and Matt for facilitating such a fantastic opportunity. We are so proud of all that our mini cadets achieved!

You may remember that The Bay Collage Club kindly donated a £100 voucher for The Works to help us purchase art supplies for our Year 3 children.

With this generous donation, we were able to buy a canvas for every child, giving them the opportunity to express themselves through art. Yesterday, they each created their own individual masterpiece, and we were so impressed with their creativity.

Here are a few examples of their fantastic work - well done, Year 3!

After having to make a few changes to Sports Day due to the heatwave, we were delighted that the weather finally cooperated and we were able to enjoy a fantastic day of sport, teamwork, and spirit!

A huge well done to all of our children for their enthusiasm, determination and encouragement throughout the day. Thank you to our staff, Herne Bay Infant & Junior School PTA and families for helping to make the event such a success.

Congratulations to Kestrels, who were crowned the HBJS Sports Day 2026 Champions!

During Term 5 and 6, Year 3 were tasked with creating a Roman model or artefact as part of their History learning about Ancient Rome and the impact the Romans had on Britain.

We think they did a fantastic job! It was great to see the children proudly sharing their work during our recent project exhibition.

Well done, Year 3!
