Herefordshire and Ludlow College, formerly Herefordshire College of Technology, has two campuses in Herefordshire - one on Folly Lane (the Hereford Campus) and one at Holme Lacy (the Holme Lacy Campus). The latter is a specialist land-based campus, just 5 miles from the City centre. A wide range of qualifications are offered at both campuses, preparing students for the world of work. In addition, there is Ludlow College, offering a superb A Level provision. Students achieve excellent results with the vast majority progressing to higher education, including places secured at top universities such as Oxford and Cambridge. Last week, our Level 2 Travel and Tourism students took to the streets of Hereford to explore the city from a tourism perspective.

As part of their studies, they visited iconic landmarks and examined how the city's cultural, historical and visitor attractions appeal to different types of tourists. This valuable hands-on experience helped enrich their understanding of local tourism and the role destinations play in creating memorable visitor experiences.

Learning beyond the classroom is a key part of the course, giving students the opportunity to see the industry in action while developing their knowledge of the travel and tourism sector. ✈️

Students learned about careers in software engineering, project management and cybersecurity, explored how AI is being used in the workplace, and discovered more about work experience and apprenticeship opportunities. 💻

The opportunity complements their course content and will help students develop valuable skills, experience and evidence for their portfolios alongside their Health & Social Care Certificate.

We have sent out everything you need to know about the Herefordshire Futures Bursary. This is a new £3,000 bursary backed by Herefordshire Council to help local students access higher education.

Priority will be given to applicants from some of Herefordshire’s most disadvantaged communities, low-income households and those who were eligible for free school meals in further education in 2025/26. Other Herefordshire residents experiencing financial barriers to higher education may also be considered.

🔥🚒 A huge thank you to two on-call firefighters who visited our Level 2 UPS students to talk about recruitment and life in the fire service.

Students gained a fascinating insight into the role before being put through their paces with a 25m equipment carry and casualty carry, both key elements of the firefighter recruitment fitness test.

Safe to say the challenge was a hit with both the students and staff! 💪🚨
