Well here we are - the end of another year.
A huge thank you to everyone connected to the Lugwardine family.
Thank you to our incredible children who have worked so hard this year, who have thrown themselves into school life and who have represented the school so well on numerous occasions. We have loved watching you grow as learners and as people, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you all. We truly are lucky to call you our own, and we are so proud of you.
Thank you to all our families - parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters etc. Your support for your children has been unwavering and makes such a difference, and we truly appreciate all the positivity you have shown towards the school this year. To see you there supporting at sports events, competitions, performances etc has meant an awful lot. Many of you have also given so much of your time to supporting the Lugwardine Primary Academy PTFA, which is hugely appreciated.
Of course, farewell to our departing Year 6 children and their families - you will certainly be missed - and we wish you all the very best as you begin the next chapter of your lives.
Have a wonderful summer break - you all deserve it.

To round off a busy day yesterday, it was time for the school discos in the afternoon.
It really was a brilliant time, with plenty of dancing, singing and laughing with friends. It was a wonderful way to round off the term.
Thanks to the Lugwardine Primary Academy PTFA for organising it all, and for the team of volunteers who helped run it throughout the evening.

Today was also a very special day for our new September ‘26 starters, who came in today a teddy bears’ picnic with Reception and Year 5 for their final settling in session.
It was so lovely to see them settling in, spending time with our current Reception class and getting to meet their new Year 5 buddies.
Our wonderful Year 5s also wrote messages for them all, and it was so special to see them showing their new buddies around the forest school area and reading them their messages.

Today, we were visited by local illustrator Sian Bowman. The day started with a whole school assembly, talking about her career and what inspired her to become an illustrator. The children also had the chance to ask some fantastic questions and play some drawing games.
Sian then visited each class to work with pupils more closely, looking at drawing techniques and how to create characters.
Thanks to Sian - a brilliant day developing drawing skills and learning about what it means to be an illustrator.
A huge thank you also to the Lugwardine Primary Academy PTFA for providing such an enriching opportunity for the entire school.

It’s been such a busy and exciting week here at LPA.
Yesterday, our Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed a wonderful willow craft session in our woodland area, creating some fantastic work which is now hanging up all around the grounds.
A huge thank you to Cheryl and Caroline for coming in and leading it. A thoroughly enjoyable day learning a new skill.

The flowers in our school gardens have certainly loved all this sunshine. Just look at how well they’ve grown!
A huge thank you to our wonderful gardeners, including those who attended Gardening Club and those who give up their time each morning before school, for working so hard to keep it looking beautiful.
We are also extremely lucky to have the knowledge and expertise of one of our governors, Mr Hodges, who has also helped run Gardening Club each week.

Today, Years 2 and 3 had a wonderful time visiting Raglan Castle and Raglan Farm Park.
At the impressive Raglan Castle, the children enjoyed spotting specific features of the castles, such as the moat and the dungeons, and climbing the various towers to admire the views. We then had lots of fun at Raglan Farm Park, seeing the animals and playing on the equipment. After all that, it was time for an ice lolly to cool off before coming home!
The children were respectful, exceptionally behaved and we loved their eagerness to explore and learn. They did us all proud, and it was such a treat to get to take them away for the day!

Last week’s brilliant win in the cricket earned our team a place at Finals Day, and today our team once again travelled to Herefordshire Cricket Ltd to compete against some strong opposition.
First game was against Wigmore. A very close game with Lugwardine winning 74-70. It was all down to the penultimate ball and then defending the final ball.
Next up was Riverside. We had a tricky batting innings and lost too many wickets leaving them only needing 23 runs from their innings. Although we bowled well it was just too small a target and we lost by 13 runs. Into the final game, every team had won one and lost one so it was all to play for. Lugwardine played Weobley. With consistent batting and bowling we won this game by 39 runs.
This result meant a tie for 1st place on points but after counting total runs scored throughout the afternoon we came 2nd.
The team were all amazing and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and sportmanship. They are all so deserving of their medals.
This also brings to an end a wonderful year of sport here at Lugwardine. Countless competitions entered with so many children representing the school. We’re so proud of each and every one of them, for their sporting achievements and for the personal growth that participating in sports brings.
Of course, a huge thanks to our wonderful parent and wider family community. Much of our success, including today, has been down to your support and encouragement.

Year 1 have had lots of fun learning about pointillism in our art lessons! Pointillism is a painting technique in which pictures are created using tiny dots of colour and this is a technique that requires lots of focus and concentration! Well done Year 1 !

One of our supremely talented cricket teams competed in a tournament today at Herefordshire Cricket Ltd.
For most of the side, pre-tournament preparations included a night at LugFest, about 20 minutes of sleep and then a couple of bacon butties for breakfast! After all this, they then needed to go and play multiple games out in the sun.
In the group stage, they won 3 out 3, meaning they topped the group.
This meant they faced off against the winner of the other group in the final. It was a pulsating, tense final, with some extremely high quality cricket played from both sides. Remarkably, it went down to the final ball; the other team needing just 1 to win off it. However, a brilliant delivery by the bowler, take by the wicket keeper and subsequent stumping meant that Lugwardine were crowned winners.
As ever, what stood out wasn’t just their cricketing prowess - it was their respect for the opposition, their unwavering support for one another and determination to succeed. Individually they were brilliant, but seeing them work as a team, being there for each other, really was special.
We are immensely proud of each and every one of them.
