Today was the last of our pre-school graduations with the Leapfrog’s 🐸putting on a fantastic performance, despite the heat. A BIG thank you to everyone that came to celebrate, we hope you all enjoyed yourselves. A BIG thank you Ang, Rilma, Rachel and Leanne for organising an amazing show, and to all of the staff who helped with the prep, performance and tidying away. And last but not least the BIGGEST thank you goes to our Leapfrog children. It has been an absolute joy looking after each and everyone of you and we know you will all do just fine at big school. And not forgetting your parents/carers for allowing us to be a part of your child’s journey. ❤️

Today we celebrated our Ladybird graduation 🐞. Ladybird children you did yourselves proud today by putting on a fantastic performance of ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo’. You also did us adults proud and no doubt your families too. A BIG thank you to the Ladybird staff, Kyliemarie, Adele and Ammie in preparing such a spectacular performance and thank you to the staff who helped prepare for the day and also stayed on to help with the ceremony and clear away. It is very much appreciated. Lastly thank you to all of the families that came to watch, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. And thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child’s journey. We really do have the best job in the world ❤️

JOB OPPORTUNITY
PART TIME LUNCHTIME ASSISTANT APPROX. 9 hours per week, 50 weeks a year.
Experience of working with children preferred but not essential.

We are looking for fun, hardworking individuals to join our busy nursery. Some people think that working with small children is easy as all you do all day is sit around playing – if you are one of these people you need not apply as that is not the case.
Candidates must:
• Despite anything else going on in your life you must always have a warm and friendly smile on your face, making every child feel special.
• Be able to give hugs on demand.
• Be comfortable talking about poo and other bodily fluids (this is a popular topic for small children).
• Be prepared to answer the question why? at least a hundred times a day.
• Have the ability to know 100+ childrens’ names as well as their best friends, pets, aunties, uncles etc.
• Be an avid fan of Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol and Fireman Sam and know all of the characters.
• Be comfortable receiving unwanted gifts (usually from a child’s nose).
• Laugh at jokes you don’t understand or find funny.
• Have a repertoire of nursery rhymes/songs and be able to sing these from memory, not necessarily in tune.
• Be prepared to make a fool of yourself – being a little bit silly is a good quality to have when working with children.
• Be flexible to work outside of your normal working hours (approx. 11.30-2.30pm) to cover staff holidays/sickness

The children we work with are at the heart of everything we do and are always our number one priority so all necessary safeguarding checks will be completed and our robust Safer Recruitment policy will be followed.

Just wanted to let parents know of the precautions we are taking as a nursery during this hot weather:

* We are ensuring all children have regular access to their drinks bottles and water throughout the day and are taking regular hydration breaks.
* Outdoor play is being limited to first thing in the morning when it is cooler using the shaded areas where possible.
* Children are encouraged to wear sun hats and appropriate lightweight clothing.
* Sunscreen will be applied in accordance with parental permissions and nursery policy.
* All rooms within the nursery have portable air con units as well as fans which at the moment are keeping the rooms nice and cool. We are also ensuring that blinds are closed and lights are switched off.
* Staff are closely monitoring children for signs of heat exhaustion, dehydration, or discomfort.
* Sleeping and resting areas are checked regularly to ensure they remain comfortable and are not excessively warm. Within the baby room children will be put to sleep within an area of the main room as at the moment this appears to be cooler than their sleep area.
* We are engaging in lots of quiet, water-based, and cooling activities
such as the water trays and ice play.
* We are keeping our freezer stocked up with ice lollies and tip tops and children are being offered these throughout the day.
* Parents are reminded to send children with a named water bottle, sun hat, and suitable clothing for the weather.
We will continue to monitor the weather and will adapt our daily routine as necessary to keep all children safe and comfortable, however if you are wanting to keep your child at home please make sure you ring or email to let us know.
We are also following relevant guidance from the UK Health Security Agency and local authorities regarding heat-health alerts.
Thank you ☺️
