Hereford Cathedral School www.herefordcs.com - Herefordshire's only 3-18 Coeducational Day and Boarding School

Welcome to Hereford Cathedral School, the leading Independent School in the Marches, and Herefordshire's only 3-18 Coeducational Day School. Hereford Cathedral School's greatest strength lies in its friendly, family, coeducational ethos, encouraged by excellent staff-pupil relations and a highly supportive parent body. It is this ethos, widely recognised as a special characteristic of Hereford Cathedral School, that enables pupils to excel both in, and out of, the classroom. As the only school in Herefordshire to be a member of The Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference HMC, Hereford Cathedral School is recognised to be one of the 250 leading independent schools in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

This morning, pupils from Years 8–13 took to the stage in Headmaster’s Assembly to share some of their favourite poems, celebrating National Poetry Day. πŸ“–

Head of English, Mrs Early, spoke about the power of poetry - its ability to challenge our ideas of identity and belonging, open our minds to new perspectives, and inspire us.

A morning full of powerful words, and plenty to think about. πŸ’

Yesterday, cadets and staff from Hereford Cathedral School CCF's RAF Section attended Herefordshire's Service of Remembrance of the Battle of Britain at St Paul's Church. The service was hosted by 124 Hereford City Squadron ATC. Cadets from HCS and 124 Squadron paraded together with colleagues from Ross, Leominster and Ludlow.

The Lord-Lieutenant took the salute and was supported by Sophie D, the HCS Lord Lieutenant's Cadet.

πŸ‘ Well done to our cadets for being fantastic ambassadors for the School.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for our Senior & Sixth Form Open Morning.

It’s been a busy morning with families exploring the school, meeting our teachers and pupils, and getting a feel for life at HCS.

Our pupils have loved being your guides, showing families around their school and sharing what they enjoy most about HCS. There’s been plenty happening across our departments too, with hands-on activities, experiments, demonstrations and lots of opportunities to get involved.

And, of course, no HCS open morning would be complete without a taste of what’s on the menu, with our Chef and catering team serving up some delicious samples! πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Thank you for spending your morning with us β€” we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

If you couldn’t join us today, we have further Senior & Sixth Form Visitor Mornings on 9 October, 4 November and 17 November. To book, call 01432 363583 or visit the website.

🎨 𝗔π—₯𝗧 // Year 11 and 13 Art and Textile Design students had a wonderful day in Bristol exploring the vibrant art scene in the city. They visited the Royal West of England Academy for their annual exhibition, and The Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery where, alongside their permanent collect of art, they were celebrating 50 years of Aardman Studios in Bristol.

To finish off the day they went to Arnolfini Arts where they saw some thought-provoking contemporary art. A very inspiring day for everyone!

And what better way to celebrate than with a European Languages Bake Off? 🍰 From colourful creations to delicious designs, our Year 7 bakers brought Europe to the table - and our Powell Foyer was looking suitably spectacular!

The celebrations also had plenty of rhythm, with some fantastic salsa dancing with Year 13 student Honor W bringing a taste of Spanish-speaking culture to the day. πŸ’ƒπŸŽΆ

A huge well done to everyone who took part, from our bakers and dancers to everyone getting involved in our European Languages quiz and activities.

A celebration of languages, cultures, creativity… and some very tempting cakes! πŸŒπŸ°πŸ’ƒ
