Could a fully funded engineering degree change someone's future?
We're delighted to announce the new Spectra Group Bursary, which will cover the full cost of tuition fees and project costs for one student studying at NMITE from September 2026.
At a time when the cost of higher education can feel like a barrier, this bursary will provide a talented future engineer with the opportunity to pursue their ambitions without the financial burden of degree costs.
Made possible through the support of Herefordshire-based defence communications specialist Spectra Group, the bursary represents an investment in both individual potential and the future of UK engineering.

NMITE Secures Major Government Investment to Boost Defence Skills and Innovation π
The New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) has been awarded a significant share of an Β£80 million government fund aimed at strengthening the UK's future defence workforce.
Selected as one of just 24 institutions from 112 applicants, NMITE will use the funding to expand student places and develop cutting-edge facilities that will equip more young people with the skills needed for careers in defence, engineering, robotics, and advanced technology.
The investment will support the transformation of NMITE's Eign Gate campus in Hereford city centre, creating a state-of-the-art learning environment featuring:
πΉ An autonomous robotics learning studio
πΉ Advanced engineering and mechatronics laboratories
πΉ A dedicated drone testing area
πΉ New study and social spaces for students
The award comes as NMITE prepares to welcome the first students onto its pioneering MEng in Autonomous Robotics programme in September 2026. Developed in partnership with the British Army and launched in response to the UK Government's Industrial Strategy and Strategic Defence Review, the degree addresses urgent national skills needs in high-growth sectors.
James Newby, President and Chief Executive of NMITE, said: "This investment is a strong endorsement of NMITE's new model of higher education. It reflects our ability to respond quickly to national skills priorities while helping strengthen the UK's sovereign capability and bringing new investment into Hereford."
Jesse Norman, Chair of NMITE, added: "We are incredibly proud to be one of only 24 institutions selected. This investment will create even more life-changing opportunities for students while strengthening the UK's future skills base."
The funding will help deliver more than educational opportunities. It will support economic growth, create a pipeline of highly skilled graduates, and contribute to the UK's long-term defence and security capabilities.
This is an exciting milestone for NMITE, for Herefordshire, and for the future of engineering and technology education in the UK.

Weβre pleased to announce another session for our Military to Business Showcase 2026.
This seminar will explore the impact of the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 and the wider Invictus movement in supporting the recovery, rehabilitation, and long-term success of wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans.
Returning to the UK for the first time since the inaugural Invictus Games in 2014, Birmingham 2027 will shine a spotlight on resilience, purpose, and the valuable contribution veterans make to communities, workplaces, and wider society.
The session will provide insight into how sport, community, and opportunity can play a role in supporting veterans beyond military service, while highlighting the positive impact of the Invictus movement both nationally and internationally.
The Military to Business Showcase brings together the military and veteran community, employers, educators, and local organisations to explore career pathways, networking opportunities, and support available across the region.
