Huge congratulations to Alex Al Mac on his well deserved promotion to Purple Belt.

Alex joined us as a blue belt almost 2-years ago, and since then has recorded nearly 400 lessons. This is even more impressive considering he has to travel some distance to the club. Alex also supplements his BJJ with regular judo training.

Alex’s enthusiasm and passion for Jiu Jitsu, cannot be faulted. He is a tremendous club man and is one of the first to welcome new members to the club. Alex has a lovely Jiu Jitsu game, and rolls with anyone and everyone, often giving the higher grades problems.

A thoroughly well-deserved promotion, the coaching team is looking forward to watching Alex develop at the new belt.

Huge congratulations to Phil on an awesome performance at the Elite BJJ Events National Masters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships.

Competing in the Master 4, purple belt category, Phil had 3 fights, including a foot-lock submission win to take double bronze in his category and the absolute.
In the NoGi category, unfortunately a last minute decision not to fight by his opponent, left Phil with a default gold.

Huge congratulations to Giles .mason.10 Giles Mason on an awesome performance and taking the gold medal at the National Masters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships.

Competing in the Master 5, purple belt, -100.5 kg category, Giles submitted his first opponent with a choke from mount after taking a good points lead.
In the final, .mason.10 Giles faced a tough opponent and with the scores level at 2-2 took the referees decision after dominating much of the match.

Huge congratulations to Helen Helen Soloman on an awesome performance at the Elite BJJ Events National Masters Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships. Competing in the Master 5 category, Helen took a 13-0 points lead with some impressive Jiu Jitsu, before submitting her opponent with a cross collar choke.
This was Helen’s first ever competition, and in preparation she has regularly been training six times a week. Some Mondays she trains in the 6am class, followed by two classes in the evening. Being crowned National Masters champion is a just reward for all her efforts.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped Helen prepare for this event, and to those who came up on the day to support her.
