We’d like to recognise Tomos, who has achieved a DISTINCTION in his Level 3 Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship, an impressive result that marks the successful completion of his programme.
Tomos, who is employed by Haigh Engineering in Ross-on-Wye, has faced challenges along the way, but has ultimately achieved a strong outcome. Completing an apprenticeship requires perseverance and this result reflects his ability to see things through to the end.
Adrian Rees, HWGTA Learning & Development Specialist, noted Tomos’s development over the course of the apprenticeship and his determination to reach the required standard.
We’re pleased to have supported Tomos through his journey and wish him all the best as he continues to develop within his engineering career.

SAVE THE DATE!
HWGTA Annual Apprentice Awards Evening 2026
We’re pleased to share that plans are underway for our 2026 Apprentice Awards Evenings in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Taking place later this year, these special events will once again bring together our apprentices, employer partners and colleagues to recognise the commitment, progress and achievements seen across our programmes.
The Awards Evenings provide a valuable opportunity to pause and celebrate the dedication shown by so many, both learners and those who support them, and we’re looking forward to coming together to mark these successes.
‘Save the Date’ notifications have been issued this week via email, to those currently eligible for an invitation. Full details, including confirmed guest lists, will follow in due course.

Apprentice Residential Weeks 2026
The end of May marked the final apprentice residential of the year, followed by our learners presenting back to staff and employers to share their experiences.
Across all three weeks, the programme has supported well over 100 apprentices from engineering and commerce pathways, across both Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
This is a unique part of the HWGTA learner journey - giving apprentices the space to step outside of their usual environment, build relationships, develop independence and grow in confidence. It’s often where we see real personal development and the impact can be significant both professionally and personally. One learner, for example, shared during their presentation that they felt like a completely different person compared to when they started the week - a great reminder of the confidence, resilience and skills these experiences can build.
A huge amount of work goes into making these weeks so successful, from planning and organisation beforehand, to the energy and commitment shown throughout, by our dedicated team. Therefore, a sincere thank you to Veronica, Stuart, Richard, Rob T, Beccy D, Lottie, Dave P, Kim and Chris, along with our leads Steve H, Alex W and Scarlet - your hard work has helped create something truly special, and we’re incredibly proud of the difference these weeks have made to our apprentices.

Distinction Success – Well Done! 👏
A huge congratulations to two of our learners at Sierra CP Engineering, who have both achieved DISTINCTIONS in their Level 3 Engineering Fitter Apprenticeships.
Sierra CP Engineering specialise in manufacturing high-precision instruments and systems across a range of industries, making this achievement even more impressive.
Adrian Rees shared how proud he is of both learners, describing the outcome as thoroughly deserved. They have been a pleasure to support and we’re delighted they have both secured full time positions with the company.
Throughout their apprenticeships, both learners have grown in confidence and capability, developing into skilled engineers ready for the next step in their careers.
A big thank you to Sierra CP Engineering for their continued support and commitment to apprenticeships 👏
