📚 An exciting new chapter for Personal Development at Kingstone High School!

At the beginning of this academic year, we launched our renewed and strengthened Personal Development timetable, giving every student a purposeful and engaging start to each school day.

Our dedicated SPHERE lesson every Monday continues to deliver our PSHE curriculum, but this year we have introduced a much more robust programme for morning form time from 9.00–9.20am. This now includes whole-class reading twice each week, alongside dedicated careers and wellbeing lessons.

📖 Our whole-class reading programme has been particularly exciting to see in action. Pictured is one of our Year 11 forms reading A Christmas Carol together, supported by their form tutor. Using the visualiser and reading ruler helps ensure that the experience is adapted, accessible and inclusive, so that every student can engage with the text and develop their confidence as a reader.

We have been incredibly proud of how positively our students have embraced the new programme. Their engagement, discussion and enthusiasm have been wonderful to see.

We have also shared with this post a graphic of our weekly Personal Development timetable, so parents and carers can see exactly what students are getting up to each morning from 9.00–9.20am.

Another important part of how we are building Courage, Kindness and Aspiration and continuing to Achieve Success Together. 💙💛

We’re delighted to invite prospective students and their families to visit Kingstone High School this September and October.

Our Open Days are a chance to see the school during a normal working day, walk the corridors, see lessons in action and get a real feel for life at Kingstone.

Our Open Evening on Thursday 8th October offers the opportunity to hear from our leadership team and meet teaching staff, including our SENDCO, Pastoral Leads and Heads of Year.

☕🍫 Hot Chocolate with the Head! 🌟

A huge congratulations to our five fantastic students who were selected for Hot Chocolate with the Head last week!

Each week, students are nominated by staff for demonstrating our school values of Courage, Kindness and Aspiration and for making a positive contribution to life at Kingstone High School.

It was a real pleasure to spend some time together, enjoy a hot chocolate and celebrate everything they are doing so well. ☕👏

☕🌟 Hot Chocolate with the Head! 🌟☕

A huge congratulations to Delalah (Year 7), Seb (Year 8 ), Jess (Year 9), Amelia (Year 10) and Lucian (Year 11) who joined Mr Morris for Hot Chocolate with the Head on Friday!

Each of them was nominated for making a really positive contribution to school life and demonstrating our values of Courage, Kindness and Aspiration.

It was a pleasure to spend some time celebrating their achievements – very well deserved! 👏☕🍫

🌿🔥 Forest School is back for 2026-27! 🌳☕

Our Forest School outdoor classroom has had a refresh ready for the new academic year, and it was brilliant to see students starting their sessions last week!

Students have been getting stuck into outdoor learning, developing skills in teamwork, communication, problem-solving and resilience, while learning practical skills and building their confidence in the natural environment.

And, of course, no Forest School session would be complete without a well-earned hot chocolate around the fire! ☕🔥

A fantastic space for our students to learn, explore and experience something a little different beyond the classroom. 💚

🌱 Something very special is beginning to take shape at Kingstone! 🌱

It was brilliant to see our Year 11 Land Based Science students beginning the work on our new Community Cancer Champions Garden, situated near the canteen.

This project has been months in the planning and began through our work around cancer awareness last academic year, but the vision has grown into something much wider. The garden will become a warm, open and welcoming space where students can sit, talk and seek support with any worries or wellbeing concerns they may have.

At lunchtimes, the space will be manned by an older member of our school community, giving students another trusted person to talk to in a calm and supportive environment.

We are incredibly excited to see the garden develop over the coming weeks and are very proud that our students are playing such an important part in creating a space centred on community, kindness and looking after one another. 💚🌿

☕🍫 Hot Chocolate with the Head!

Our first Hot Chocolate with the Head celebration took place this morning, recognising the five students who have earned the highest number of house points since the start of term!

A huge congratulations to:

⭐ Aiza – Year 11

Each week, five students will be invited to enjoy Hot Chocolate with the Head in recognition of their excellent contribution to our school and its culture.

🌟 Our Fabulous Junior Leadership Team 🌟

Although our Junior Leadership Team began their roles during the summer term, today saw them officially step into them with full force, joining Miss Ratchford and Mrs Finch for a planning meeting focused on our Student Council and the year ahead.

A huge congratulations to our Head Students, Magnus and Faith, and our Deputy Head Students, Bea and Amelia.

We’re incredibly proud to see our student leaders already making their voices heard and helping to shape life at Kingstone High School. 💫
