Over the 2020 lockdown I was able to put more time into sewing and as a result I began to tentatively share, through local artisan markets, sewn items that I had made.

3 years further down the line and this idea has progressed and I have decided that the time has come to make sewing more than just a hobby of mine! As a result, I have become a part time teacher and am now working hard to establish StitchwithKate as a business. The vision is that of teaching people to sew. I am a teacher through and through but with a passion for sewing that I would love to share. I believe that absolutely ANYONE who wants to learn to sew CAN. I have had children as young as two effectively using a needle and the results are both heart warming and empowering. I have created an ever expanding mix of instructed kits and in person workshops to help me achieve my goal. You can find these over on my website at www.stitchwithkate.co.uk. I am also able to offer bespoke workshops to groups so if you are, for example, in Scouting or Guiding, a member of the WI, a school seeking curriculum enrichment or an individual looking for a unique party experience for a special occasion please do get in touch. Sewing is both mindful and creative in nature and I hope as a result that you will become as enchanted as I am by the humble sewing needle.

Today I had the joy of teaching not one but two workshops at Yarnstock! It reminded me how much I really do enjoy running adult workshops too... Christmas workshops anyone... my thinking cap is on! 🪡🤔🪡

I am absolutely loving running these sessions and meeting more and more wonderful young people and their families wanting to sew. Thank you Hereford Library for hosting us. Now to just get better at remembering to take photographs! 🪡😊🪡

What a wonderful first Home Ed session we had at the library today - thank you! There were some fantastically creative finger puppets made and some of the older children tried their hand at blanket stitch too. There is still time to join us next week and Pre-Schoolers are very welcome to the younger session too! 🪡😊🪡

The last of the bookmark posts, I couldn't not share! It has been such a wonderful summer sewing with so many incredible, creative munchkins. Almost 100 bookmarks sewn (I missed photographing a few over the weeks!), every one unique and every one paired with a smile. Thank you Herefordshire Libraries, a summer well spent 🪡😊🪡

Another wonderful bookmark session yesterday, this time at Ledbury library. There were some brilliantly creative soles in these workshops as well as some very young stitchers which always make me smile! Thank you everyone, and yes, there's still time to make your own, I'm at Ross and Hereford libraries next week 🪡😊🪡

Alterations make me so nervous I rarely say yes to them. For some, I genuinely don't have the know how (making a garment and changing a ready made one are two very different processes) for others cutting into someone else's clothing where there's no going back is just a little bit too scary! I couldn't say no to this one though and thankfully I feel like even the offcuts are smiling at me... phew! 🪡😬🪡

What a fantastic day: two beautiful libraries, four brilliant workshops and a whole host of wonderful people; the result... these incredible creations, each one unique and stitched with wholesome energy. GROWTH... The word that landed in my hand as an affirmation during the beautiful wellbeing festival of Sundara last week. Six little letters I stitched and have carried around with me since. A powerhouse of meaning I for one have truly underestimated and underappreciated. A concept so fragile yet so beautiful, so expected yet so challenging. A journey we all experience, one we cannot live without and one we cannot achieve alone. From nature to nurture (you know who you are!) I am truly grateful, I don't think there could have been a more apt word to carry this week! 🪡🌱🪡
