✨ Student Spotlight ✨

Last week, our KS3 students stepped back in time as they began their journey into the world of Shakespeare! 🎭

As part of their learning, they designed and created incredible mini Globe Theatres—showcasing both creativity and a fantastic understanding of Elizabethan theatre. From detailed stage layouts to imaginative designs, it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and ideas come to life.

We can’t wait to see how this inspires their exploration of Shakespeare’s plays in the weeks ahead! 👏📚

Volunteering Fun 👥

Staff and students had a lovely morning volunteering at Pen Y Bryn Animal Sanctuary, helping out with lots of different jobs involving the animals. 🐄🐑🐖

We really appreciate and are thankful to have the opportunity to volunteer each week by learning new skills as well as how to work with and care for animals. 🤝

Careers week has commenced 🎓

We have another exciting week at GEM this week with our careers week, where students will participate in career-themed activities, learn about a variety of careers and even listen to talks from different people in interesting careers. 💼🧑‍🍳👮‍♀️

Today we warmly welcomed the amazing Josh, who is a police officer in the local area, as well as Darren, the chef from No3 in Ross, who gave an amazing, inspiring talk with a quote that stuck with us: "It doesn't matter what job you do, do your best. Be the best at what you do – be proud – never do it half-heartedly and opportunities will always open up." 💫

Thank you both for taking time to speak to our young people to inspire them. ✨

Farm show fun🚜🐄

We had a brilliant day out on Friday at the Royal Three Counties Show where we got to see lots of different farm animals, horse jumping and exploring different aspects of farm life 👨‍🔧🐖🐑

Our school staff volunteers, and our amazing young people who ran it, thoroughly enjoyed taking part and being involved in such a fantastic community event.

You have truly created something special. The sense of community and encouragement was wonderful to experience, and it was inspiring to see so many people coming together to support one another.

We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to joining you again soon!

🌟 Huge thanks to all our amazing volunteers who brighten up every Saturday morning, week in, week out. Your energy, encouragement, and kindness make such a difference to every single event.

✨ This week felt extra special for so many reasons. Volunteers, runners, tourists, and barkrunners all come together to make each parkrun unique, and this one really had that special buzz about it.

🏃‍♀️ Last week I had the honour of speaking to a local school about volunteering at parkrun. Today, it was lovely see some of them in action in my “natural habitat” — a few even stepped up to volunteer and ticked off a 5K for breakfast. A brilliant way to start the weekend!

💛 We really hope you all enjoyed taking part and that we’ll see you again in the future, whether volunteering, walking, jogging, running, or cheering from the sidelines.

🙏 And finally, another huge thank you to everyone who donated to the Sports Centre/Cricket Club fundraiser. Together you helped raise an incredible £150 towards our £270 target. We’re genuinely so grateful for your support.

-Run directors charging a “fine” for every rogue finish funnel exit 🚧
-Volunteers auctioning off their high-vis vests for premium parking spots 👕🚗
-Finish tokens being “sold” to the highest bidder to secure a good time 💰
-Barkrunners running a charity sausage raffle after finish 🐶🌭
- Tar and feathering of run directors

The kids had the best time today and did so well! 👏

They learned how to use the Zipper bus, how to pay for their journey, and then how to choose and buy a treat using their own money. These are such important life skills, and we are so proud of how confident, responsible, and independent they were throughout the day.

Great work, everyone – you should all be very proud of yourselves! 🌟🚌💷

Making the most of the beautiful weather, we headed out for a stroll and ended up at Heggies for a delicious shake. What a lovely treat! 😊🥤
