🐌🐠 As part of their Naming and Grouping Animals topic, Year 1 enjoyed an exciting hands-on experience with some of our Year 12 and 13 students.

The children met Brian the chameleon, Mossy the gecko, Pepperoni the snake, axolotls, giant snails, guppies and more! They even discovered that Morio worms, crickets and locusts are all part of Brian’s diet! 🦎🍽️

From holding the snake to gently stroking the gecko, the children asked thoughtful questions and used their scientific knowledge to classify the animals.

A fantastic experience full of curiosity, excitement and learning! 🌿🔬✨

🐻🎉 After spending their first few weeks settling into life in the Moat with our Reception children, our HCJS teddy bears were ready for their next big adventure - going home! 🏡🐻

Before heading home, the children enjoyed a bear-themed party, making their own teddy sandwiches 🥪🐻 and proudly wearing the bear hats they had made together.

It has been lovely watching these special companions become part of school life. We hope they are now enjoying many more adventures together at home! 💛🐻

Nursery and Reception had a magical day at Queenswood last week. They followed the Gruffalo Trail, discovered characters and clues, enjoyed a picnic and plenty of play, before settling down among the trees to share the special story, Gruffalo Granny.

This week our Year 6 pupils explored what it means to be a good leader.

At HCJS, we want all our pupils to be Future Ready; ready to embrace opportunities, make a difference and have the confidence to step up when it matters. Leadership is an important part of that.

Our Year 6s have an important role to play in the Junior School. They lead by example, listen to others, stand up for what is right and help those around them to flourish.

We had great fun working together throughout the day, and we hope the children came away having learnt a little more about themselves, what makes a great leader and how they can bring out the best in others.

🐻 Reception's teddy bears have very much settled in to school life, and are helping the children to feel at home. The bears joined in Friday's PE session in the Quiet Garden, and the children had lots of fun in the sunshine with their furry friends 😎🏃
