Trewern History
Trewern was opened in 1967 as an outdoor pursuits centre for the schools of Barking and is now an educational facility for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. We will be 60 next year.

The intervening years have seen many developments which have increased the versatility of the service that we offer. Currently the Centre is open throughout the year and runs courses during the week and at weekends for both school and adult groups.

Built in 1904 the house was originally classified as a medium sized family residence. We are a small team looking for the grease to help the wheels turn smoothly.

☄️ Make the most of our Dark Skies Reserve and experience this incredible Meteor Shower.

The Perseid meteor shower is active from July 17th to August 24th, with its peak on August 13th.

This year will be special; as the New Moon falls on the 12th of August, the placement of the moon between the Earth and Sun makes it so that it is virtually missing from the night sky. This calls for an exceptional dark sky, in which you’ll be able to witness the extraordinary meteor shower 🌒

The best time to see the Perseid meteor shower will be from around 1am until the first light of dawn on 13th August.
