🍓To round off our topic on planting and growing, our nursery children enjoyed a wonderful visit to Freshfields Strawberry farm yesterday.
The children (and staff) had the best time learning all about how strawberry seeds are planted, how they grow and how the delicious strawberries are picked when ready. They loved getting hands-on and picking their own punnets of strawberries, and enjoying them for a mid-morning snack.
We enjoyed exploring the different polytunnels and watching the pickers hard at work, which gave the children an insight into how strawberries are grown and harvested. A huge thank you to Freshfields for providing such a fantastic hands-on learning experience and for kindly gifting us some strawberry plants for our garden! 🍓

The children in Year 3 and 4 went on a walk through Wellington identifying what human and physical features they could spot. The children found lots of different features including houses, a post office, a church, a brook and a ford. The children had great fun exploring the local area. We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful area. 🌞

🌿Early Years Garden Update🌿
We are so proud to share the wonderful progress of our Early Years Garden! It is amazing to see how this special space is coming together for our children to enjoy, explore and learn.
We wanted to say a very big thank you to our local garden centres for their generous donations, your support has helped bring this project to life. Wellington Home and Gardens and Radway Bridge Garden Centre.
A huge thank you to Mr. Smith for fixing and replacing the fence and for building our beautiful planters – they look fantastic and will be enjoyed for years to come.
We would also like to give me a massive thank you to Miss Sevenoaks and Clare for their dedication, hard work, and passion in creating this wonderful environment. Their commitment to providing the very best for our children is inspiring and the garden reflects the care and thought they put into everything they do. We can’t wait to watch our garden continue to grow!
*If anyone has any unused watering cans - we would greatly appreciate any to help keep our vegetable patch and flowers nice and watered!*

🪈💃 Indigenous Cultures Week 💃🪈
Before half term, Wellington Primary School celebrated Indigenous Cultures Week. This was a chance for us to teach the children about different groups of people around the world, so that they could better understand our planet and celebrate people’s differences.
Alongside our normal lessons, we had a very fun, action-packed week full of arts and crafts. In addition to this, each class learnt a song and dance linked to the culture they studied. We were very pleased to perform these to the community on the afternoon of Friday 22nd May.

🧁Wellington Garden Centre🧁
Nursery enjoyed another wonderful trip but this time it was to our local garden centre Wellington Home and Gardens. We enjoyed a very picturesque walk to the garden centre, walking over the ford and spotting the cows and horses in the field. Once we arrived, the children loved exploring all the different seeds, plants and amazing animal sculptures. We particularly liked the 2 humpback gorillas! The children (and teachers) enjoyed a lovey chocolate treat and squash together in their garden room.
A huge thank you to Wellington Home and Gardens for their wonderful donations towards our early years garden – your support is greatly appreciated and our garden is going to look truly spectacular!
