The countdown is on until our pupils take to the stage at the Seagull Theatre with this year's spectacular summer production, A Journey to the Past.

1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Could you make a life-changing difference to one child's education?

The Old School Henstead is looking for a compassionate, reliable and committed individual to join our team as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant.

This is a truly unique and rewarding role, providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with a rare medical condition. You'll help them access learning, take part fully in school life and flourish in our nurturing environment.

No previous experience with this specific condition is needed – we'll provide full specialist training and ongoing support. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your ability to build positive relationships and your commitment to putting the child at the heart of everything you do.

You'll be working as part of a job-share, alongside experienced colleagues, and supported by our staff team and medical professionals. This is an opportunity to gain specialist skills while making a genuine difference every single day.

📍 Location: The Old School Henstead, Suffolk
📅 Start Date: September 2026
⏰ Hours: Part-time (2 full days per week, term time only)
💷 Salary: HLTA Pay Band (Band F)

🧵✨ Creativity Stitched into Every Page! ✨🧵

Our Craft Club pupils have been busy creating these wonderful handmade felt books – and what a fantastic job they've done! From designing and cutting the felt to stitching, decorating and adding interactive pages, each book is completely unique and reflects its creator's imagination and creativity.

It's been lovely to watch the pupils develop new sewing and craft skills while taking such pride in producing something they can treasure for years to come. We think you'll agree that the finished books are absolutely brilliant! 👏📚

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Mini Marathon 2026 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Held in the relative coolness of the morning before the hottest part of the day arrived, pupils, parents and staff took to the field for the third and final 'thon' of the year, following our Swimathon and Bikeathon.

Our pupils showed incredible determination as they ran lap after lap of the school field, refusing to give up and encouraging one another every step of the way. We were hugely impressed by their resilience, effort and positive attitude throughout the event.

The morning concluded with teacher Mr Hunter getting a well-earned (and very refreshing!) soaking from the pupils.

A huge thank you to all of the parents who took part, and a special mention to Millie, a former Henstead Head of School, who returned this week for work experience and joined in the challenge.

The final overall result from all three events is still under wraps and will be revealed at Speech Day next week. Until then, the suspense continues!

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Mini Marathon 2026 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

🏆☀️ Henstead Sports Day ☀️🏆

Last week's Sports Day had a bit of everything. The morning was packed with field events, including long jump, high jump, ball throw and tug of war, with pupils earning valuable points for their houses throughout. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

In the afternoon, attention turned to the track for the athletics events, before the much-anticipated mums' and dads' races. We also had the annual pupils and staff versus parents tug of war, which was as competitive as ever! 💪

Of course, no Sports Day would be complete without the traditional water-slide race 💦 and the equally traditional soaking of the House Leaders at the end of the day! 😂

Congratulations to Deben, who were deserving winners after a fantastic team effort across all the events. 🏆💚

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support the children, and to all those who stayed on to enjoy the Summer Fair afterwards. 🎪🍦

A brilliant way to round off another memorable Sports Day and a perfect example of the magic of Henstead – children, families and staff coming together to enjoy a day full of fun, friendship and community spirit. ✨

🌟 LAMDA Performance Showcase 🌟

Last week, our LAMDA pupils performed in front of the whole school and their families, demonstrating just how much their confidence and communication skills have developed over the year.

Well done to every pupil who took part. A special congratulations also goes to the many pupils who have recently achieved Distinctions in their LAMDA examinations – a wonderful reward for their hard work and dedication.

The Old School Henstead is seeking a compassionate, dedicated and highly motivated Specialist Medical Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with complex medical needs.

This is a truly rewarding role at the heart of our school community, combining specialist medical support with educational and pastoral care. You'll play a vital role in helping the pupil access learning, develop confidence and thrive both academically and socially.
