And we're back!

Following a brilliant Induction Day for our new joiners, it was wonderful to welcome the entire College back for the 2026-2027 academic year.

As we look ahead to a brand new term, we can't wait to see each student's potential unfold. Whether it's in the classroom, on the sports field, on the stage, or on the river, we look forward to seeing what our pupils will achieve over the coming months.

A very warm welcome to our new pupils in , and , who joined us today for their induction day!

The day was packed with activities, including treasure hunts, professional headshots, informative talks and the legendary Shiplake Capsize Test, giving pupils a fantastic introduction to life at Shiplake.

We hope everyone is feeling settled, confident and ready for the year ahead. Tomorrow, the entire College community returns, and we look forward to having everyone back together once again.

It's been a busy and productive start to the new term as we came together for INSET! Two days of training, introductions, and the all-important bacon butties. It has been fantastic to welcome new colleagues to the College and put the finishing touches on preparations for the term ahead.

INSET is complete. Pre-season is over. Now it's time to get the 2026-27 academic year underway! We are looking forward to welcoming all our new pupils tomorrow and the rest of the College on Friday.

We are proud to announce that Shiplake College has been accredited as a Thinking School by Thinking Schools , University of Exeter. This recognition celebrates our evidence-informed approach to developing pupils’ thinking skills and fostering reflective, independent learners.

The achievement comes as Assistant Head (Inclusion) and SENCo, Mrs Judit Coulehan, and Assistant Head (Teaching and Learning), Mr Sam Shaw, were invited to share Shiplake's Thinking School practices at the Festival of Metacognition.

Six talented students recently travelled to the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where they performed their production of The Red Shoes to enthusiastic audiences throughout its run.

Alongside their time on stage, students embraced the full Fringe experience by promoting the show along the Royal Mile and enjoying a wide variety of performances from across the festival.

Congratulations to all involved for representing Shiplake College so brilliantly and making the most of this amazing opportunity.

Five students spent the start of their summer making a lasting difference on a volunteering expedition to Vietnam.

From helping to build a road in the remote mountain village of Na Chao to immersing themselves in local culture and traditions, the students demonstrated resilience, teamwork and a genuine commitment to service. The experience broadened horizons, developed leadership skills and created lifelong memories.
