In 2017, the end of my marriage came with a tsunami of new challenges:
โข Financial insecurity;
โข The sale of my beloved home;
โข Single parenting;
โข Uncertainty;
โขLegal process (and legal fees! Uuuugh);
โข The weird new reality of dating. Tinder...and Bumble...and Hinge,etc, etc (aaargh!);
โข A whole array of emotions โ fear, anxiety, loneliness, guilt, hope, anticipation;
โข An overwhelming desire to protect my kids from it all.
But there was a sunny side too. I wish I could tell the me in 2017 that Iโd emerge from the chaos stronger and better โ that this was the beginning of me forging the life I really wanted.
When I reflect on that period, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. My friends, family and colleagues were amazing. They were always thereโฆ
โจ To make me laugh;
โจTo be ready with running shoes or wine โ whatever the day called for;
โจTo offer practical advice;
โจTo motivate me to keep wading through the tough stuff;
โจTo reassure me;
โจ To listen to my weird and wonderful online dating stories ๐
I knew that with their support, everything would be ok. And it was.
And now, I want everyone to have a network of support when theyโre going through the dark days of relationship break-downs or break-ups. A safe space where people who are experiencing the pain and challenge of relationship endings, can get together, share stories and offer hope and advice to each other โ to create better new beginnings.
