We regret to inform you the monkeys have taken over the zoo…

…see you in September! 🤭

We wanted to the end the year on a high and this morning we filled our playground full of love for one final staff appreciation event!

The Claverdon community came out in force to create a guard of honour for our teachers and school staff so that we could show them how much we all appreciate their hard work. We don’t know about you but spending time with just our own children is hard enough, never mind 30 of the little toe rags every day… 😂

Thank you to everybody who showed up this morning but, even more importantly, thank you to all the families in our community who have donated time, money and attention to Friends of Claverdon both this year, and for those powering up to the next level of secondary education, throughout your journey at primary school.

We absolutely adore you all and wish you the most magical, restorative and memorable of summer holidays. ✌️

Since 2023, the wonderful Emma Foulerton has been quietly carrying the weight of Friends of Claverdon on her back, but as we end this term Emma is stepping down from her position as Chair and skipping off into the sunset to enjoy her beautiful daughter’s final year at Claverdon in September.

We know that you will all join us in giving Emma the huge appreciation she deserves for all the hundreds of hours she’s dedicated to planning events, approving accounts, corralling volunteers, attending meetings and so much more. Emma has four children of her own and a full time job as an NHS physiotherapist, so stepping up to take over the Chair role three years ago was a true act of heroism!

Luckily for us, Emma will be sticking around to head up the fun run and keep an eye on all things FoC over the next 12 months, but if you happen to see her on the school run then make sure you give her a high five and maybe even a cuddle for being such a brilliant ambassador for our school community.

💕 Thank you Emma! 💕

Can we ask you a favour? Will you do some shopping for us?

You know, your usual food shop or your travel supplies for holiday or all the back to school stuff from John Lewis next month…can you do it FOR us?

All you have to do is sign up to (literally a 90 second job) & then you’ll be able to passively raise loads of income for Friends Of Claverdon as over 8000 retailers donate to charities like ours, just because you shopped with them.

It’s SO simple, SO quick and SO appreciated to keep income rolling into our school community. Go, get involved now and we’ll see who can get the highest spot on the easyfundraising leaderboard by September!

What an absolutely SPECTACULAR turn out for Crazy Hair Day at Claverdon school! The children looked utterly brilliant and were so excited to show off their styles this morning. Extra house points to the teachers for joining in too; legends.

Huge thanks to the 51 families who have donated so far and raised £275 on Crazy Hair Day. This pot of money is going towards the long list of books that the teachers have asked to be added to their classrooms in September, so please know that whilst you may still be scrubbing hair dye out of your finger nails, you are genuinely enhancing the kids’ learning experience too.

There’s still time to donate - the link is in the comments if you need it - and even the smallest contribution has the biggest impact on our little school community.

Who’s up for more Crazy Hair Days next year…?!

You’ve seen the reminders pop up on WhatsApp that a PTA meeting is about to happen and you’ve thought, “I don’t even know what that’s about.”

Well, it’s drinks and sweet potato fries in the sunshine. It’s lightbulb moments and dirty laughter. It’s utilising the background, skills and knowledge of parents from a whole spectrum of fields in order to raise funds that benefit our children’s education.

Because whilst there is a chairperson for the Friends of Claverdon, no one here is a professional PTA-er. If you’ve ever laboured under the misapprehension that the PTA is a “hobby for parents who have nothing better to do” we can assure you that’s not what this is. Sitting around the table last night we had medical practitioners, business managers, marketing executives, veterinary professionals, accountants, teachers (ours and external) and small business owners.

This is the hive mind in action. It’s people dashing in from late meetings, squeezing it in between kids clubs, offering a helpline on specialist topics whilst trying to get the online shop done. We never ask anyone to commit to anything they don’t have capacity for, but dropping in to sense-check what FoC have got planned or bringing a new idea to the table or suggesting something you’ve seen work well in other settings will always be welcome.

Huge thanks to the gang who came out last night for the final Friends of Claverdon meeting of the 2025/26 year. It looks like next year is going to be a big one with big targets to hit, and we hope to take you all along for the ride.

Who wants to join Alan for Crazy Hair Day?!

This Friday, we’re inviting the children to wear their hair however they like. Whether it’s a jazzy bobble, a backwards plait or a tribute to the millennium dome, we’re inviting the whole school to let their hair down (apart from Alan, obviously). From funky colours to silly styles, we can’t wait to see how the Claverdon crew do their do’s!

Whilst Friends of Claverdon have no input into the planning, organisation or ex*****on of sports day (we’re delighted to just be enthusiastic parents for the morning!), we couldn’t be prouder of how our school community comes together to celebrate these kids’ effort and achievement.

We’re sure that you’ll all join us in sending massive thanks to Mr West & all our awesome school staff for bringing the fun to Sports Day year after year. And congratulations to Kington for winning the cup this year!

What a cracking start to UNICEF Rights Day! Huge thanks to Mrs Bevan and Mr West for kicking things off with a high-energy keep fit session to remind us that every child has the right to play. Seeing our community absolutely losing their collective minds to Free From Desire and Three Lions before 9am was truly uplifting!

If you still need to donate, we’ll pop the link in the comments to make your life easier. And feel free to take this as your reminder to get up, get out and move your body today 😜
