Curriculum Week 2026 🎨⛳️🔬🌍

What a wonderful week we had during Curriculum Week!

From explosive science experiments and crazy golf challenges to Henry Fraser–inspired art and Parisian cafés, every year group enjoyed an engaging, practical, and inspiring week of learning.

Pupils explored new skills and ideas across science, art, geography, PE, and French, discovering different ways to learn through creativity, collaboration, and hands-on experiences. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and teamwork throughout the school.

A truly memorable week for everyone involved!

What a great week at The Reddings!

From World Book Day📚 to 5 out of 7 classes receiving their attendance bee this week, meaning they’ve achieved the national expectation for attendance or above🐝

Next week, we have Curriculum Week🌍🔬🎨

Curriculum Week is a focused, off-timetable themed week designed to enrich children’s learning beyond the standard National Curriculum.

It provides pupils with opportunities to explore subjects in greater depth through exciting and engaging activities planned for the children, with a special focus on Art, Geography, French and Science.

We look forward to sharing lots of photos of everything we get up to next week.

📚 World Book Day 2026 📚

What a wonderful day we’ve had celebrating World Book Day! Pupils enjoyed sharing stories, dressing up as their favourite characters (or coming in their comfy pyjamas), buddying up with other year groups for reading time, and taking part in our special World Book Day assembly.

We finished the day with a surprise mystery reader visiting each class — a brilliant way to end such a fun, book-filled day!

We hope everyone has had a fantastic time and feels inspired to keep reading for pleasure.

Don’t forget to use your £1 book token at shops such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, or Waterstones.

Continuing our National Storytelling Week celebrations, we held a Book Swap event today.

Over the past few weeks, we invited families to donate any unwanted books from home so that we could host a free book event. Today, children, along with their families, were able to choose books to take home and enjoy, helping to share the love of reading across our school community.

We were truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our families and how successful the event was. Thank you to everyone who donated—there were many happy children heading home with new books to read and enjoy in their own time.

We hope to run more events like this in the future and to continue promoting the importance of reading for children, especially this year as it is the National Year of Reading 📚

As part of National Storytelling Week, our classes have been busy creating a whole-school story inspired by this year’s themes, ‘Speaking Story Into Darkness’ and ‘Soundtrack Your Story’.

Using this image alongside a mystical soundtrack for inspiration, the children’s creativity truly came to life. The result was something really special, and we are incredibly proud of how the whole school came together to collaboratively write a beautiful short story.

We shared the finished piece with everyone during Wednesday’s assembly, and we’re excited to include it in tomorrow’s newsletter so that families can enjoy reading it too.

🇬🇧 Year 6 WWII Home Front Day 🇬🇧

Our Year 6 pupils had an unforgettable day stepping back to October 1940, experiencing life on the Home Front as WWII evacuees. From travelling back in time through role play to taking part in hands-on activities, the children were fully immersed in what daily life was like for children during the Blitz 🧳📜

They explored wartime precautions, rationing and schooling during the war, bringing their history learning to life in a way that was both fun and engaging. The enthusiasm, curiosity and teamwork shown throughout the day were fantastic to see!

A truly memorable experience that helped deepen understanding of WWII while making learning exciting and meaningful ✨

Thank you to History Off The Page for an excellent day.

Spring 1 Learning at The Reddings🌸

We’ve been busy during Spring 1 learning lots through our engaging and fun curriculum. From Understanding Our World and The Plants Around Us in EYFS and Year 1, to fractions, decimals and percentages and learning about WWII in Years 5 and 6 📚

Our curriculum is designed to provide children with subject-specific knowledge and skills through memorable learning experiences and high-quality teaching. It is language-rich and based on high-quality texts, helping pupils to deepen their understanding and build confidence across all subjects.

Where it enhances learning, we make meaningful cross-curricular links, allowing children to make connections and apply their knowledge in different contexts.

We’re so proud of the enthusiasm and progress shown by our pupils this term 👏✨
