Supporting Links, a Social Enterprise, provides parenting support through workshops, courses and 1:1 mentoring of parents and children. We value the knowledge and experience that every parent brings and we aim to build on those skills to enable parents to feel more confident and positive about their own abilities. We can help you understand your child's behaviour and develop effective strategies that really work to improve behaviour and communication, and build the foundations for successful family relationships.

🎒As the new term gets underway, test dates, assessments, and upcoming mocks soon start landing on the calendar. 🗓️

Whether your child is adapting to Year 7 or heading towards GCSEs and A-Levels next summer, helping them build efficiency, confidence, and lifelong preparation skills early on makes all the difference.

Our upcoming Talking Exams Workshop with Supporting Links gives parents practical strategies to help teens stay organised, study effectively, and manage big days calmly.

What we'll cover:

• Building efficient study habits and lifelong preparation skills
• Encouraging good routines and motivation without nagging
• Practical tools for staying calm and focused on test days

There’s been a lot of discussion recently about “gentle parenting” and whether some parenting approaches have become too permissive.

But parenting teenagers doesn’t have to be a choice between understanding them and setting boundaries.

At Supporting Links, we believe in Considered Parenting.

✅Teenagers need us to listen, to try to understand what’s going on for them and to treat them with respect.

✅But they also need boundaries.

✅They need us to say no sometimes.

✅They need us to say "No" sometimes.

✅They need to understand that their behaviour affects other people.

✅And they need opportunities to make choices and experience the outcomes of those choices.

⭐We can understand why our teenager is angry and still say their behaviour isn’t OK.

⭐We can listen to why something feels unfair without changing our decision.

⭐We can help them calm down and come back to what happened afterwards.

It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Considered Parenting is about thinking about what our teenagers need from us now, while keeping sight of what we’re trying to teach them for the future – helping them develop into considerate, co-operative and responsible adults.

That’s the approach that runs through everything we do at Supporting Links.
