One of the biggest mistakes I see is stopping the strumming hand every time you change chords.

Yes, we want clean chord changes, but that's only half the job.

The other half is keeping the groove going.

Sometimes your left hand is still catching up while your right hand keeps moving... and that's okay. I'd rather hear someone keep the music flowing than stop every two seconds trying to be perfect.

Music wants to move.

One thing Jimi Hendrix did so well was make the guitar sound just a little bit wild.

This little lick uses a bent note against an open string, and the two notes almost fight each other. It's not perfectly in tune, and that's exactly why it sounds so good.

Sometimes it's those little imperfections that give the guitar its character.

🎸 **Struggling with bends? This might help.**

One of the biggest mistakes with bending is trying to do all the work with one finger.

The strength actually comes from the **movement of your forearm**, keeping the bending finger fairly rigid and using another finger behind it for a bit of extra support.

A small change in technique can make those bends feel a whole lot easier — and give you much more control over the pitch.

Today's idea comes from playing over the pentatonic scale with the added 9th (sometimes called the hexatonic).

It's amazing how adding just one extra note can completely change the feel of a familiar scale.

The important thing isn't speed—it's making the phrase sound musical. Focus on clean bends, controlled pull-offs, and landing confidently back on the root note.
