Little Seeds Montessori is a pre-school and nursery for children aged 2-5 years offering pre-school morning or full day sessions between the hours of 8.30 am(for breakfast club attendee's) and 3.00 pm. The Montessori method ensures your child is guided and supported towards the ability to be an independent,

enthusiastic learner. The child-led ethos, perfectly prepared environment and one on one teaching style make this an optimal space for children to develop and progress and to love doing this. Little Seeds is set in the Bovingdon Baptist church. Located close to the high street, it is accessible and central. The building provides a large, bright space for the pre-school as well as an outside play area. We are within easy walking distance of small local parks and open areas, perfect for nature walks and forest school. As well as offering the Montessori method of education children can experience activities like Spanish lessons, music and movement, forest school, yoga and baking in the afternoons. The reading corner and range of art activities are also always available. Alongside teaching children the usual academic subjects like maths, literacy and understanding the world (science, zoology, botany, history, geography) Montessori offers Practical Life activities and activities to refine your child's senses. The practical life activities teach useful practical skills such as pouring, transferring with spoons, tongs, tweezers, opening and closing things, doing buttons, zips buckles etc. The children love to practice these activities and achieve independence with them. These activities work to refine vital physical skills that your child will need for later activities such as writing. The curriculum areas such as care of self and care of the environment and grace and courtesy lay the foundations for your child becoming an independent individual who is kind and considerate to his peers. We foster a real sense of family and community within our pre-school environment where everyone is valued and feels included.

Our hands and minds are sooo busy with so many useful and fun things to do! We love our environment where everything is accessible, the right size for us and carefully prepared to meet our needs.

Food preparation on Friday is a highlight of our week. We love to practice spreading, slicing, mashing, grating, juicing, mixing, baking and then cleaning up! Refining our fine motor skills, boosting our independence, experimenting with texture and taste and sharing the experience with our friends.

Forest School isn’t just outdoor play — it’s structured, child-led learning in a natural environment, and it sits closely alongside Montessori principles we practise every day:

🌿 Freedom within limits — children choose their own activity within a safe, prepared space.
🌿 Real tools, real responsibility.
🌿 Learning through the senses — texture, weather, weight, temperature, all absorbed directly rather than taught.
🌿 Uninterrupted time — long blocks of unhurried exploration, not activities on a timer.

For children aged 2-5, this kind of unstructured, hands-on time outdoors supports focus, resilience and independence — all foundations for the transition to primary school.
