We would like to say a huge thank you to FOSS for our new library books. The children are excited to read them and a couple of the books didn’t even make the photo as they’ve been taken off to be read already!

Study Zone are taking part in the FWAG Cornwall Kingfisher Award Scheme. As part of this, they visited Cornhill Farm, Kehelland, to explore farming and wildlife in the modern world. Cornhill Farm operates a circular farming system: they grow their own barley, wheat and oats, which are then used to produce chicken feed, and any waste eggs are turned into scrambled eggs for their large black pigs to enjoy.
During the visit, the children had a go at sorting eggs by size and carried out checks on the tractor to make sure everything was in working order. They also learned about improving soil quality and the importance of trees for supporting farm animals. It was a fantastic experience, and we would like to say a huge thank you to Elsa and Rona Amiss, and Pete and Jenny Olds — an enormous amount of work went into this, and we are very grateful for the opportunity.
The children were delighted to take home some of the farm’s delicious free range eggs, and we can’t wait to hear about the cooking creations they produce. Next week, we will begin preparing our presentation for the judging at the end of the month.
P.S. Miss Bray was with the Y6 boys’ group today, so most of the photos feature them!

This week is Sustainability Week at Sithney! Study Zone kicked things off with fire lighting and outdoor cooking, preparing a planned seasonal vegetarian dish. The children aimed to use as much British produce as possible to help reduce food miles. Their final dishes were outstanding — we hope they’ve caught the cooking bug and will be treating their families to their delicious creations.

📚 Could your child’s school win £1,000/€1,000 for new books?

With our friends at Read for Good, we’re on a mission to – and you can help! 💙

Nominate a school at the link below to put them in with a chance of winning £1,000/€1,000 in National Book Tokens to refresh their library 📖✨

Even better? If your nomination is chosen, YOU could win a £100/€120 National Book Token to spend in your favourite bookshop!

And that's not all. To celebrate the UK's National Year of Reading, we'll pick a flash winner every week until 24th June to receive £100/€100 for their nominated school, and £25/€30 for themselves. That's even more books in the libraries of schools across the UK and Ireland. 🎉

Why it matters:
💡 Reading for pleasure boosts wellbeing, confidence and academic success
📉 But only 1 in 3 children say they enjoy reading in their free time
📚 Many school libraries need new and inspiring books to engage today’s readers

Let’s give every child access to books they’ll love. ❤️

👉 Nominate your school today and spread the word – the more nominations, the better their chances!

On Monday afternoon, Study Zone welcomed in local Methodist ministers Rev. Matt and Rev. Rebecca Fugill, who spoke about their faith and the ways it has supported them throughout their lives. They shared how they work to make a positive difference in the community, with their chapels offering pastoral and emotional support, food provision, companionship and more. The children listened with great interest and asked thoughtful, considered questions. We are very grateful to both visitors for giving their time and sharing their experiences with us.
