Well done Florence and Jowan. We are very proud of you.

šŸŽŗ Congratulations! šŸŽŗ

Everyone at Helston Town Band would like to say a huge congratulations to Jowan and Florence on their recent music exam results.

⭐ Jowan has passed Grade 1 Cornet ⭐ Florence has passed Grade 3 Cornet

Learning a musical instrument takes dedication, patience and plenty of practice, and both should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

It's fantastic to see our younger players developing their skills and confidence, and we look forward to watching them continue their musical journey with the band.

Well done, Jowan and Florence – we're all very proud of you! šŸŽ¶šŸ‘

This week's Wake Up Wednesday post gives a clear overview of YouTube’s latest risks and safeguards, helping adults support safer viewing habits for children and young people.

YouTube continues to be one of the most popular platforms for young people, offering a mix of entertainment, creativity and learning.

However, its vast content library and recommendation systems can also expose children to risks that are not always easy to spot.

Our latest guide highlights key concerns, including:
• Inappropriate or extreme content
• Interaction with strangers
• Risky trends and challenges
• The impact of short-form content

It also offers practical advice, such as using YouTube Kids, setting parental controls and watching content together.

We’re incredibly proud to hear how an invitation to speak to our pupils at Wendron School became the starting point for a much bigger story. Pete from Harbour Lights and Fraser’s Fish and Chips reflects on how that visit inspired a commitment to sustainability that now runs across all of their restaurants. This is what community partnership and education in action can look like.

Streaming platforms have quickly become one of the most popular ways for children to watch TV and films. But behind the convenience of on-demand content are several risks that parents and educators should be aware of.

From excessive screen time and binge watching to age-inappropriate material and algorithm-driven recommendations, our latest guide explores the realities of children’s streaming habits.

It also provides practical advice to help families create safer viewing environments, including:

🚦 Traffic Update – Monday Morning 🚦

We have been informed that the main road outside Wendron School has now reopened and temporary traffic lights are currently in place to manage traffic.

Please allow extra time for your journey this morning, as delays are still likely while traffic adjusts and queues clear.

Thank you for your patience and care when travelling to and from school. Please take extra caution when driving near the school entrance.

Regards
Tash Williams.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT – PLEASE READ 🚧

Good evening everyone,

You may already be aware that the main road near Wendron School (by Amos Pumps) is currently closed and it is thought that it will remain closed until Wednesday.

There is a small chance that temporary traffic lights may be put in place instead of the full closure, however we have not been able to confirm this at the moment.

Either way, surrounding lanes including Rowe’s Lane are already experiencing very heavy traffic, and we expect significant congestion tomorrow morning.

šŸš— Please allow extra time for your journey
āš ļø Please take extra care on the smaller lanes, which are likely to be much busier than usual.

Thank you for your patience and support.

Tash Williams.
