A highlight from this week was 'Maths in the Cat Cafe'. I set this up for a lovely young learner who is a big cat person (I am too!).

The possibilities for Maths in the Cat Cafe are endless; we can practice:

☕️Arithmetic and money skills as we serve our customers.
🐱 Multiplication and division as we give the cats treats.
🫖Fractions, ratios and percentages as we share cake and drinks.
🍰Measurement and more ratios as we make cakes and drinks.

The kingdom needs saving, and it's up to you! Use the power of numbers to find your way, battle monsters and defeat your enemies. Who knows what secrets you'll uncover along the way?

🧝Why?
These sessions enable students to...
- Develop key skills.
- Build confidence.
- Have fun!
They also offer a perfect introduction (or reintroduction) to maths education for reluctant and anxious learners.

🦄Who?
These sessions are ideal for learners of all ages and abilities, including learners who...
- Aren't keen on the idea of formal maths lessons.
- Lack confidence.
- Love games/gaming.
- Are neurodivergent/SEN.
I adjust the content to suit the ability level of the learner/ group, this includes learners who might need to start from the very beginning, up to learners preparing for functional skills/GCSE's.

🏰What?
- Learners start by creating their unique character, including key stats (traits). Are they strong, fast, kind, clever or brave?
- Each session starts in the training area where students develop the skills needed to complete today's mission.
- We then dive into the story. Each day brings another adventure. Students will practice their skills in mini-games as they overcome obstacles, battle monsters and continue on their quest to save the kingdom.

My wide range of experience covers learners of all ages, including neurodivergent learners and those with SEND (ASD, ADHD, PDA, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Anxiety, and more). I have seen many students through functional skills, GCSE and A-Level qualifications.
