Parental Childcare Demand Survey 2020 10/09/2020

Darlington’s 2020-21 Childcare Sufficiency Assessment

Darlington Borough Council has a statutory duty to ‘secure sufficient childcare, so far as is reasonably practicable, for working parents, or parents who are studying or training for employment, for children aged 0-14 or up to 18 for disabled young people’. It is important that families can access good quality, affordable and accessible childcare in the borough should they wish to use it.

Part of the local authority’s duty involves conducting an annual assessment (Childcare Sufficiency Assessment) of the local early years education and childcare market. As you can imagine, the pandemic has created great uncertainties for families linked to security of employment and changes in employment patterns and family routines. We would therefore like to give as many parents/carers as possible the opportunity to comment on the local childcare market and their requirements from this market. With this in mind, please could you ensure that your parents/carers are made aware of the link below where they can find the latest parental childcare survey:

https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/20SPV3Q

The survey will be open from the 10th September to the 16th October 2020.

✨ This weekend at our Arena Nursery Sam, Coley, Aai'sha, Emma, Chef Roy, and Caretaker Gary have been busy reorganising our spaces with Pre-School expanding into next door come September.

We now have a beautiful new story space for all of our children and families to access with hand made resources created by our teachers, we know our children moving across from Heighington until we reopen in new premises will love this space, as we have lots of little book worms 💖

Each week we have a new story sack with new provocations to inspire our budding readers so this space will be ever evolving and added to ❤️

We are pleased to say that we have purchased the ex Headway garden next door to us at the Arena Nursery :).

This will be a lovely additional space for all of our children, it currently holds lots of lovely established, plants, fruit, vegetables and herbs.

We will use these as well as plant other items to show our children the different life cycles as well as using the items in our daily cooking activities and for our Chef to use in our delicious homemade meals.

Should anyone have any plants, seeds, gardening equipment they will not use or experience this would be greatly appreciated by our eager little learners :) xx
