Hednesford Valley High School

Hednesford Valley High School Hednesford Valley High is a special school for students aged 11 to 19. Visitors to the school always comment on how polite and welcoming the students are.

The students are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities and learn to work together in a secure and safe environment. The students are proud of their school and will do tours explaining the work they do in every room. The students have different Special Educational Needs and are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure they are happy and confident and learn to become as

independent as possible to achieve their full potential. The staff work hard to ensure our engaging curriculum meets the needs of all students by working with a child centred approach. The school has a dedicated team of staff that work together to reach high standards in everything we do and ensure student learning is supported effectively by working in specific SEN teams. Their work has been recognised by the achievement of the ASD and Dyslexia awards. Staff work in partnership with parents/carers to enable students to follow personalised learning pathways through the school to achieve success in accredited courses. The students gain skills, knowledge and confidence by working in the local environment through Forest Schools, a residential visit in year 7 and numerous visits to events in the local community. Vocational learning takes place in the school, at the Wolverhampton Vocational Training Centre in Key Stage 4 and in the community. Students become active members of the community by joining their mainstream peers as Sixth Form students sharing the open facilities at Cannock Chase High School. Students become independent citizens by accessing work experience in the local and wider community.

Our Girls in Discovery were treated to a fabulous cream tea today by Mrs Parsons! The girls were invited to spend part of their lunch break in the Cream Room, where they enjoyed delicious scones with jam and clotted cream. Mrs Parsons even surprised everyone with some fondant fancies too!

As Hednesford Valley High School is predominantly boys, it was lovely for the girls to have some special girl time together. 💕
