What a game!

Our Year 5 footballers put in a fantastic team performance on Thursday against St Patrick’s Birstall, with a thrilling friendly that finished 2–2. Plenty of grit, determination, and two well-taken goals — brilliant effort from every player in such baking hot conditions.

A huge thank you to the many parents and families who came along to cheer both teams on. ⚽☀️⚽️☀️

Thanks to St Patrick's Catholic Academy, Birstall - PE for bringing another great team for us to play against. We look forward to lots more matches in the next academic year.

🏆 School Games Platinum Award 🏆

For the fourth consecutive year, Holy Spirit Catholic Primary Academy has been awarded the prestigious School Games Platinum Award in recognition of the outstanding physical education, school sport and sporting opportunities we provide for all of our pupils.

We are incredibly proud to be one of only a small number of schools in North Kirklees to achieve this remarkable accolade.

This has been another exceptional year for sport at Holy Spirit. Our pupils have enjoyed tremendous success in competitions, and we have once again broken our own records for the number of children taking part in school sports teams and representing school.

A huge congratulations to all of our pupils for their enthusiasm, commitment and dedication. Your hard work, teamwork and determination continue to make us proud.

We would also like to say a heartfelt thank you to our parents and families for your ongoing support. From transporting children to fixtures and competitions to cheering them on from the sidelines, your encouragement makes these opportunities possible.

⚽ Champions Schools Finals – An Outstanding Achievement! ⚽

A huge congratulations to our football team for representing the school so brilliantly at the Champions Schools Football Finals after earning their place through an excellent qualifying campaign.

The team produced some fantastic football throughout the evening, winning two matches, drawing one, and suffering two incredibly narrow 1–0 defeats. Their performances earned them a superb joint 3rd place finish against some outstanding opposition.

Every player gave 100%, showing fantastic teamwork, determination, resilience and sportsmanship from start to finish. The whole team were outstanding, playing with confidence, skill and pride, and they were a credit to themselves and the school.

A big thank you to everyone at Crossley Fields Junior School, Mirfield, for hosting such a fantastic event. The competition was brilliantly organised, and it was a pleasure to take part.

A huge thanks to all of the parents that helped with transport and supported the team throughout this competition.

We have added yesterdays photo alongside one we found in the archives. The last photos take us back six years to when this group of pupils proudly represented our school together for the very first time.

Fast forward to today, still representing school with the same passion, determination and pride but most of all, still smiling 😊

Rounders Glory for Our Girls!⚾️⚾️⚾️⚾️🏆🏆🏆

A massive congratulations to our amazing girls' rounders team, who were crowned North Kirklees Rounders Champions! 🎉

The team displayed outstanding teamwork, determination and resilience throughout the competition. In an exciting final against St Patrick's (Birstall) they put on a brilliant performance, smashing some huge rounders to secure a well-deserved victory! 💥⚾

We are incredibly proud of every player for the way they represented our school with such skill, commitment and excellent sportsmanship. You should all be so proud of this fantastic achievement!

Good evening all,

Football club tomorrow evening has been cancelled due to the extreme heat.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

We are continuing to follow the DfE guidance and keeping school open. We have made several adjustments to deal with the heat, including switching our uniform to PE kits, increasing hydration breaks, ensuring children are in the shade at play and lunch, cooling hosepipe sprinkles, as well as cool foot spas in classes! All classes have fans and teachers are adjusting the curriculum as necessary. Ice lollies were mandatory this afternoon and the children all enjoyed them.

Grateful thanks go to Mr & Mrs Azam and family this evening as they supplied the whole school with beautifully chilled juice as the classes left school! What a kind and thoughtful gesture! They will be there again tomorrow everyone! Thank you once again. 🥰

Continue to help keep everyone safe in the heat by ensuring your child has a water bottle in school (although we will provide a cup if they forget it), apply high factor suncream before they come to school and send them with extra for the day, ensure they have a sunhat.

All staff have been alerted to the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and know what to do if they suspect children are becoming over heated.

Champion Schools Finals-Here we come! ⚽️🏆

A huge congratulations to our Year 6 mixed football team who finished as runners up in last weeks qualifier. They have now ensured their place in Thursdays Champion Schools Finals!

Our team were outstanding throughout the whole competition and after a slow start they then went unbeaten in order to qualify.
The children represented the school brilliantly both on and off the pitch, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and a real team spirit. Every player played their part in a superb team performance and should be incredibly proud of their achievement.

Finishing second in such a competitive tournament is a fantastic accomplishment, and we cant wait to see you compete in the Champions Schools Finals later this week.

Thanks to all of the parents that came to support the team and helped with transport. Without your continued support this would not be possible.

First time representing school!

A number of children in Year 3 took on Hightown Primary School in what was a fantastic experience for all involved.

Although the result didn't go our way, every single player should be incredibly proud of their efforts. For the majority of our team, this was their first time representing school and they showed great courage, determination, sportsmanship and teamwork throughout.

The team represented our school with enthusiasm, respect and a positive attitude. We look forward to seeing this young team continue to develop and grow in confidence in

Year 3/4 Football Festival ⚽️

What a fantastic afternoon of football for our Year 3/4 team as they took on Bywell Junior School and Hightown Primary School in some friendly matches.

For several of the boys, this was their first opportunity to pull on the school colours, and they should be incredibly proud of how they performed. Throughout all four matches, the team showed great determination, teamwork, sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

The boys finished the afternoon with an impressive record of 1 win, 1 draw and 2 defeats. While the results were mixed, the effort, attitude and improvement on display were outstanding from start to finish.

Thanks to all of the parents that came to support the teams and created a brilliant atmosphere for all of the boys that took part.

Well done to everyone involved for representing their schools so brilliantly. We look forward to seeing our team continue to develop and enjoy their football in the next few years.

Blessed Peter Snow Catholic Academy Trust Football Finals!⚽️

What a fantastic achievement for our school to once again have both our boys and girls teams qualify for the Blessed Peter Snow Finals.

The boys were outstanding throughout the competition, winning every match on their way to the final. They played some excellent football and scored a number of incredible team goals that showcased their skill, teamwork and determination. In a closely contested final, they narrowly lost out to a fantastic St Joseph’s (Halifax) side. The boys should be immensely proud of their performances and the way they represented the school.

The girls also had an excellent tournament. Despite missing key player Lily, every single player stepped up and contributed brilliantly. The team showed great resilience, teamwork and quality throughout the night and looked set to finish in second place. Unfortunately, they were knocked off that position with the final kick of the competition, but this should not take away from what was a tremendous achievement.

Both teams demonstrated outstanding attitude, effort and sportsmanship throughout the finals. We are incredibly proud of all the players and their achievements. Well done to everyone involved for representing our school so brilliantly! ⚽👏🏆
