As many of you know, Dolly Parton sadly passed away earlier this week. But we wanted to do a post celebrating her life and in particular the “Imagination Library” scheme which she founded. 📚
The imagination library has donated over 3 million books to children around the world, including in the UK, who otherwise wouldn’t have access to their own books 📕
Books are sent monthly, personally addressed to each child, and are a range of different genres and themes. 🙏
Inspired by Dolly’s own father who was unable to read or write, it’s a fantastic organisation.
She said, “When I was growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true. I know there are children in your community with their own dreams. They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister. Who knows, maybe there is a little girl whose dream is to be a writer and singer.
The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.” 🌈
And as an organisation who sees first hand the positive impact books and reading have on children and young adults, we think that is just wonderful 🫶
