That’s why we set up Grow Tuition. We still teach in a real school too because we are passionate about helping children learn, develop and grow. What we don’t like very much is stress and pressure on children. That’s another reason why we set up Grow Tuition. There are lots of studies to say that children are really, really stressed at school* and, as teachers, we have seen it for ourselves. We al
so know that class sizes can be big, resources can be stretched and sometimes children can’t always get all the help they need to reach their potential. So, we are here to help. We want to make sure children can make that extra progress without the extra pressure. Children who attend Grow learning groups will be treated like children (because that’s what they are) and not like robots in an exam factory. We are a small, local tuition centre run by Kathryn and Sarah who are both teachers. We like children to work in very small groups (no more than 4) so they receive lots of adult support within a child-centred learning environment. We like to design work that suits each child because we know that different things work for different people... everyone is unique after all! We want to find out what makes a child tick, what they are interested in and what their favourite learning style is. That way we can make sure they are getting the best out of every lesson.
*The ChildLine National Exam Stress Survey revealed that 96% of the 1300 who completed the survey felt anxious about exams and revision, with 59% feeling pressure from their parents to do well and 64% saying they have never received any support in dealing with exams.
