So much of maths is about making connections and applying understanding in different situations. Rounding decimals is connected to knowing their position on a numberline, and this can be linked to the decimal tenths. Then rounding gives a good estimate of the answer to a calculation.

Another quick low prep game. I use the cards from 5 to 9 so there's is a lot of opportunity to practise bridging across 10 and spotting doubles and near doubles. We often play without showing our cards, so the learner can choose whether they want to keep their cards or swap. This makes them consider their numbers and probability of my cards being higher or lower.

February 2023 Half Term

This day is aimed at students in Year 6, 7 and 8 but would also be useful for older students as a refresher course. We will focus on developing a full understanding of what a fraction is and how to problem solve using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also look at the connections with decimals and percentages and how to work out fractions of amounts. All activities done in a fun, multi-sensory way in Heptonstall.

10 - 3 pm - including lunch or bring your own.
I am a fully insured and qualified teacher, with DBS and safeguarding training.
