The Department for Education has announced important changes to Free School Meal (FSM) eligibility that will come into effect from September 2026.

If your child currently receives Free School Meals, YOU MUST REAPPLY or this will stop from September 2026.

From September 2026, any child in a household receiving Universal Credit will qualify for Free School Meals, but you MUST still apply.

Moving forward, there will be annual eligibility checks, meaning your FSM eligibility may change.

If you think your child may be eligible to receive Free School Meals, please complete the online form:

Looking for fun activities during the summer holidays? Get involved with our Summer Holiday Activities and Food Programme!

📅 Tomorrow, Fri 17 July - Sun 30 Aug 2026

Please note: the activities are free for those young people aged 5 to 16 (up to 18 SEND) who are in receipt of benefit-related free school meals. Those eligible can enjoy:

- a variety of fun activities
- exciting opportunities to learn and develop skills
- a nutritious meal each day
- additional creative and cooking classes and much more!

☀️ Great British Summer Savings ☀️

Families can save money on days out this summer through the Government's Great British Summer Savings scheme.

From now until 1st September, participating venues are offering savings on:
🍽️ Children's meals
🎬 Cinema, theatre and attraction tickets
🚌 Free bus travel throughout August for children aged 5–15 in England

🎶 Fantastic News for Music at Hebburn! 🎶

We are delighted to announce that Hebburn Comprehensive School has been awarded £10,000 through the RTM x Amazon Music Tech Award! 🎉

This funding will allow us to invest in state-of-the-art music technology, giving our students access to industry-standard equipment and an even richer music curriculum.

Coupled with the £20,000 grant we received from in 2024, our music department is becoming one of the best-equipped learning environments in the area, creating even more opportunities for pupils to develop their creativity, performance and music production skills.

A huge congratulations to our Head of Music, Mr Wilkinson, and the music department on securing this fantastic funding through another successful grant application. Their hard work and commitment to providing the very best opportunities for our pupils continues to make a real difference.

We'd also like to thank Restore the Music and Amazon for their continued investment in music education. 🎼🎧💙
