Hello everyone!

My name’s Rachel and I am the teacher at The Happy Learner 😊
A little bit about me.…We used to live in South London where I have taught in Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2. I was also the English coordinator, responsible for developing a love of reading and writing for pupils across the school; reading and writing are my passion and planning exciting events and schemes of work was incredibly fulfilling.
Then we moved to Heathfield, East Sussex 3 years ago and I branched out to become a Social, Emotional & Mental Health assistant at one school and an English Intervention teacher at another- this sparked a new passion for laying foundations of safety, happiness and emotional regulation for the children I work with.
Now, I am back in the classroom part-time teaching as well as the leading our school's Curriculum to meet the needs of every child, not just the government's list of pointless things.
Budgets for schools are tighter than ever, and I’ve noticed more children finding it more challenging to access learning within the classroom.
So, my mission is to give children, who may or may not attend school, the opportunity to learn in a way that suits them.
Every child deserves a teacher who can enable them to become confident, resilient learners. If a child is faced with a challenge, you don’t change the child; you change your style of teaching and give an infinite amount of kindness, patience and opportunities.
