Good luck to all of my wonderful students- both tutees and those at school.

Know that this is just another moment and stepping stone in life- these results don’t determine your whole life, they don’t mean you have won or failed, it just guides your next steps.

Congratulations if you get the results you wanted and if you didn’t, take a breath, know your life isn’t over, and then hold your head high.. on to the next steps. If you need extra guidance, your school will be able to help, or websites such as BBC, or The Student Room can be really helpful.

Sending everyone a big hug… you’ve got this, no matter what 🙌

Good luck to everyone receiving results today! ⭐️

🔵 Tutor Tip! 🔵

If you have ever had feedback saying “stop retelling the story” or “answer is narrative in style” then you need to try this piece of advice!

Start every paragraph with the following words:

Writer’s name + Uses + Device + In order to…

Starting a paragraph with a focus on the writer means you will discuss their techniques and what they are using. Including the words ‘in order to’ also means you will be explaining how/ why the devices has been used= more marks immediately.

If you start a paragraph with words like:
Character name
Later in the story
Then
After that
When XYZ happens..

It means your focus is on the character or plot, which means you are much more likely to “retell the story” = not many marks!

Give it a go- I promise it will work!

Short answer: YES!

This is a really common question that I get asked when I mention that I run a number of group sessions.

“What if my child can’t keep up?”
“How do you know what they are doing?”
“They are shy”
“How do you manage 5-8 people in a group?”
“How can you cater for different abilities?”

It’s easy to say, but trust me, I can!

14 years experience, teaching in classrooms with 31+ children in at a time, all of varying abilities, engagement, behaviours, additional needs.. 5-8 people in a small group is a doddle!

Seriously though, group tutoring has so many benefits to a student- I wrote a short blog that you can find here: https://www.canva.com/design/DAF5DH9VXM0/eWvMSFL9EgsFNNHohOTJSw/edit?utm_content=DAF5DH9VXM0&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

So have a read through, and if you fancy saving some money, increasing your child’s social, communication, team work and time management skills, then give group tutoring a go!
