Coathangers Youth Club

Coathangers Youth Club We are an independent, voluntary run youth club for all 7-11 year olds. We run from 6.30-8.00 Tuesda Sadly in 2012, The Bridge Centre closed.

Coathangers Youth Group is one of Derbyshire's longest running and most successful, non-affiliated youth groups for 7-11 year olds. It was developed in 1989 in response to the growing need for after school sports and art provisions. For many years the youth group was situated in the heart of Aldercar, at the Infant school. In 2000, in support of the newly opened Bridge Centre in Langley Mill, Coat

hangers relocated to enjoy a success that could never have been deemed possible before. The majority of the young people that attended lived in and around the Langley Mill and Aldercar area, but youngsters were now travelling in from Heanor, Loscoe, Eastwood and Marlpool. This success was entirely the result of the volunteers that run Coathangers and the young people that attended, who generated great ideas on how they thought their club should be run. Undeterred, after a short closure we were lucky enough to be invited to our present location, St Lawrence's Church, Heanor Market Place, where we attract youngsters from several local junior and primary schools. Our goal at Coathangers is simple - to provide extraordinary sporting and arts services and opportunities to the young people we serve, whilst maintaining an enjoyable, yet safe environment.

The summer holidays are over, that means we are back!!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Starting this Tuesday (8th) at the regular time of 6.30pm to 8pm. We hope to see the old faces, as well as many new ones.

All children between the ages of 7 - 11 years (in years 2 to 6) are welcome. Come and meet new friends, take part in sports and crafting activities, all for the low cost of ยฃ2.50 per session. If you're new, the first week is free. What have you to lose?

In case you haven't heard of us, we are an independent, unaffiliated youth club, offering a wide range of activities for kids in the Heanor and surrounding areas. This is our 37th year, all our volunteers are enhanced DBS checked and we are fully insured.

Any questions, just ask, we're happy to help.

See you Tuesday ๐Ÿ˜€

And that's it for another year!! Sadly, we say goodbye to our Year 6s, and wish them all the best at secondary school. Hopefully last night was enjoyable for them? We had games, prizes, snacks, fruit skewers and each Year 6 left with a wristband made by Graham, in the Coathangers colours as a keepsake.

We are now closed for the holidays and will hopefully return on the 8th September at the usual time.

We will have many spaces available due to the number of Year 6s leaving, so please share, so we can continue to run this club for the amazing kids that attend.

Thank you to all those that have supported over this past year, those that have liked and shared our posts, the volunteers who work tirelessly and most importantly the children that have made this club their own.

From all the volunteers at Coathangers, have a wonderful summer, stay safe and we'll see you in September. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Don't ask! Kids wanted to make/sew happy meals. The kids also had Unihoc, axe-throwing and wheelies out.

Next week is our last session before the summer holidays, therefore, we'll be having games, food and hopefully a great time despite having to say goodbye to our Year 6s.

Despite it being the last night, we're more than happy to have new members, so please share as it's great to see new faces. ๐Ÿ˜€

Saturday we attended the Family and Youth Festival and we had a brilliant time. We met loads of families, sadly many hadn't heard of us despite running for over 30 years and advertising within schools periodically!

Many thanks to Blend Heanor for tagging us in their video, that certainly generated some views on our Instagram page.

Our kids have been extremely 'crafty' these past two weeks, next week is our penultimate week before we have our leavers party on the 21st.

Without the kids, there isn't a club. So, please share and like our posts so more families get to see what our incredible volunteers offer to the residents of Heanor and the surrounding areas. ๐Ÿ˜€

You may or may not have seen this? But here's a great way to come and meet some of the incredible organisations operating in and around Heanor for children/teens and families.

We will be there, please come and have a chat and discover some of the amazing activities we do. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Well despite the slightly disappointing football last night, and the barmy weather, we had a good night. The kids were treated to hotdogs, pizza and a few other treats. Our theme last night was the football, so we were having a few games and concluded with a penalty shoot-out.

Last week, they wanted the different construction kits out and were making little creatures with scraps that we have left.

Despite nearing the end of the academic year, we are always happy to see new faces. So if you want your kids making and doing or a bit of sports, instead of a screen in their hands, give us a go. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Finally, stay safe in the sun ๐Ÿ˜Ž

What a fabulous couple of weeks!! Kids have been creative as ever, making and growing. Loads of different sporting equipment out as well.

We're steadily seeing new faces, which we love and best of all, despite the kids coming from multiple schools, every one of them is welcoming. They truly are an incredible bunch.

Even though we're getting towards the end of the academic year, new members are always welcome, so please like and share this post.

Hope everyone had a relaxing half term? Just a reminder we are back tonight. See you later!

Sorry, this should have come out Tuesday evening.

Over the past couple of weeks the kids have been making teddies, doing foil scrapes, playing badminton and volleyball as well as loads of parachute games. As it was the last night before half term we had a chippie supper.

So, we are away next week. However, we will be back the week after, that's the 2nd June.

We have a few new members recently, which we greatly appreciate, but there's always room for more. Please pass this onto anyone who you might think is interested. And don't forget, the first week is free for new members.

Have a fantastic half term. Keep safe ๐Ÿ˜Ž
