Good afternoon.

Throughout June we are going to be exploring the theme, 'Our Community and Where we Live - People who Help us'. Throughout this theme we will be discussing about all of the wonderful people that help us within our own community from firefighters, to teachers, to doctors and so on and will be engaging in many activities to support our theme.

We will also be celebrating the following special dates, Dinosaur Day, Fathers Day and Eid al-Adha, allowing the children to learn about different celebrations and holidays to gain an awareness of how and why we are all different, special and unique.

Good afternoon.

During May, our Investigators have been loving exploring our Animal Life-Cycles theme. We have engaged in many activities to learn from this theme. For example, we have been playing in the tuff trays, filled with different mini-beasts and small world animals. We were then able to engage in discussions of the different animal life-cycles from chickens, to frogs, and obviously, butterflies. Linking in with our theme the Investigators have loved watching our caterpillars grow each and everyday in our butterfly net. We helped look after them by feeding them big slices of juicy orange and sugary water. Once the caterpillars turned into butterflies we set them free in the garden and some of us even held them before they flew away!

Alongside all of our theme related activities, we have been planting our very own sunflower seeds. We water them, put them in the sunshine and look at them each day to see if they have grown!

We have also been celebrating different special dates through many activities. For example, we explored International Space Day by crafting our very own paper rocket ships with our names on. We discussed Mental Health Awareness Week through looking at many emotion cards and using mark making tools to draw how we feel. We also explored different families using the small world dolls and clip art to celebrate International Day of Families.

We are already so excited for our June activities!!

Good afternoon.

Throughout May our theme is going to be 'Our Body and the Life Cycle; Animal Life Cycles'.
We will be learning all about different animal life cycles through various exciting activities. We are going to be looking at different animal life cycles from frogs, to butterflies, to chicks and so on.

We will also be exploring different special dates such as, 1st May - International Space Day, 13th May - Mental Health Awareness Week, 15th May - International Day of Families. These special dates allow us to learn about and enjoy different celebrations within the setting, promoting cultural capital for all of our children that attend.

Good morning.

Over tha past month, Our Explorers and Adventurers have made a snowy, winter topic area with an igloo and snow for our Seasons theme. We have discussed the different seasons and the weather changes we see, using our new words, developing literacy skills and communication and language.
We have played with playdoh, making the sun for summer time, and used leaves for crafting autumn pictures.
We discussed animals being born in the spring and have made a weather station to show the water evaporation and rain.
The children enjoyed making Easter chicks in the shell using fine motor skills, painting and gluing. We joined pre-school for fun activities over the Easter break, making chocolate cakes and decorating biscuits.

Our Investigators have enjoyed exploring our April theme, 'Seasons'. We have engaged in lots of exciting activities relating to our theme such as, making our very own Spring tree using our hand prints to make green leaves, we have made caterpillars on leaves using poms poms and googly eyes, and fluffy Spring lambs using paper plates, cotton wool and other craft resources. Our Investigators have a good understanding of the different seasons and the changes that happen throughout them and they have particularly enjoyed listening to our story of the month, 'A Stroll through the Seasons' which relates nicely to our theme. We have also loved watching our caterpillars grow each day and they are nearly ready to turn into butterflies. The children have enjoyed listening to the life-cycle of the caterpillar/butterfly and have watched it happen themselves before their own eyes!
To celebrate and promote cultural capital and diversity within the setting we have explored some special events. We have enjoyed celebrating Easter through different activities, we have decorated our very own polystyrene Easter eggs using lots of different coloured felt pens and explored Eid al-Fitr through lots of different story books.

Good afternoon.

Here at TKC our April theme is going to be, 'Our Body and the Life Cycle - Seasons'. We will be exploring the four seasons and discussing the weather, environment and nature throughout these seasons through all through lots of exciting activities.

We will be celebrating different special events such as, Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Eid-al Fitr to promote cultural capital and diversity within our setting.

Good morning.

Throughout March our Investigators have enjoyed exploring our theme, ‘Our Body and the Life Cycle – Human Body’.

We have participated in lots of exciting activities related to the theme. We have used sensory bags to explore the process of the breakdown of food in the digestive system, played with our puppet named ‘George’, looking at his body parts and we enjoyed turning our Topic Area into a Doctors Surgery, where we pretended to be Doctors and used the Doctors equipment and medication to make the dolls better.

We have also been exploring special events. We made Mother’s Day cards for our lovely Mummy’s, we made beautiful rainbows and pots of gold for St. Patricks Day and wore Red to celebrate Red Nose Day!

Our Explorers and Adventurers have also been enjoying our March theme. We have turned our Topic Area into a Doctors Surgery, using the microscope to look at different body parts and have enjoyed using the bandages and first aid to make each other feel better. We have looked closely at the heart, lungs and brain and explored models of the brain and the heart in the Curiosity Cube.

We have also been making beautiful Mothers Day cards for our lovely Mummy’s.

What a great month we have had.

Good morning.

Throughout March our theme is going to be, 'Our Body and the Life Cycle' (Human Body). We have lots of exciting activities planned for this theme and are ready to learn about our senses, healthy foods, oral hygiene, how to keep fit and healthy and much more.

We are also going to be exploring the following special dates, World Book Day, Red Nose day, St. Patricks Day, and Mothers Day.

Good afternoon.

This month our Explorers and Adventures have been discussing farm and safari animals. We talked about where animals live and made our own farm with pigs, sheep and cows. We painted boxes to make a tractor and put fish and ducks in our pond. We like to count the fish and frogs in the pond and the scarecrows we have made, have our faces on them!
We have carried our animal theme into the garden and copied the shadows of the animals in the sun. We have also been on several ‘Bear hunts’ and watched the birds flying in the sky.
We celebrated Valentines Day making cards for our loved ones and painted hearts using cardboard tubes.

Our Investigators have loved our 'Animals' theme this month. We have been especially focusing on animals and creatures that live under the sea. We made our vey own deep sea divers with our faces on and explored tuff trays with lots of different materials, that represented the sea, such as, blue rice, blue geli baff, blue fabrics and more.
We have enjoyed exploring the different animals in the tray and catching them using the nets.
We have also celebrated special events such as, Children's Mental Health Week where we explored different emotions, discussed how and why we feel a certain way and drew how we were feeling.
We also celebrated Valentines Day by making cards for our loved ones and making home made glittery pink playdoh to use alongside our Valentines playdoh mats.
We then had our farm visit which we loved. We saw lots of different animals and even got to stroke a fluffy rabbit!

Good morning.

Throughout February we are looking at the theme 'Animals'. Through many exciting activities we are going to be exploring lots of different animals around the world and learn about their life cycles, habitats, what they eat and much more!

Our Explorers are going to be focusing on farm animals, our Adventurers will be looking at safari animals and our Investigators will be exploring under the sea animals!

We are also going to be celebrating the upcoming special dates;

6th-12th - Children's Mental Health Week
14th - St. Valentines Day
21st - Pancake Day

Good afternoon.

Our Adventurers and Explorers have been exploring our new room and gradually getting used to being in a larger space and having lots of new adventures. All of the children have settled in well and are enjoying making new friends.

This month we have been looking at the planets in our solar system, we have made planets using paint and cups to print with. We made aliens in spaceships and stuck stars and moons on a collage for our topic board, discussing different colours. We have talked about the sun, moon and stars in the sky. Outside we walked like spacemen and built a rocket ship using cardboard boxes.

Our Investigators have loved Januarys Space theme. We have learnt lots of new interesting things all about Space. We explored our Space themed topic book and learnt new vocabulary such as, galaxy, asteroid belt, satellite and more. We also enjoyed looking at all of the different planets, discussing their names, size, colour and how we think it may feel to be on that planet. We have been making our very own astronauts with a picture of our faces on and coloured in the space suit to design it to our favourite colours. We have also enjoyed creating planet Earth with paper plates and paint, discussing that we share our planet with lots of different creatures and plants. We especially enjoyed making paper mache planets and painting them to look like the planets up in Space!
